Anisimov gone long term?

http://www.fanfeedr.com/nhl/ny-range...f-46310be3d359

****. Who gets the call up if this is the case?

I don't want Scott up there, Anisimov wasn't a grinder and thus we need a player who has offensive ability. Cue the call for Kreider once the season is over? And who would take his place until then/if Kreider isn't willing/able to sign?

Options?

Audy-Marchasseult or Avery are the only 2 options in my opinion until Kreider is able to play.

Avery is "retired" and JAM is on an AHL contract. = they are not options

Avery is not officially retired yet. And wouldn't Sather be able to offer him an ELC or does he have to wait until the end of the season?

JAM is signed to an AHL contract. The Rangers have 1 SPC left.

If he gives JAM an ELC, then we'd be at 50 contracts and wouldn't be able to sign Kreider for this season. We could sign him now, but his ELC wouldn't kick in until next season.

Of course, if Avery files his paperwork for retirement now, then we'd have 1 less contract, but he has no reason to do that, not while he's still collecting paychecks for doing nothing. And they aren't going to call up Avery, and give other teams a chance to claim him on re-entry. They don't want him playing in Hartford, no reason they'd want him playing in NY.

So yeah, neither of those players are an option.

Well then I guess we're **** out of luck. Avery, while hated by many on this board, did offer goal scoring, at points.

Jam, is our top scorer in hartford, didn't realize he'd prevent us from signing Kreider.

I chose the 2 because of their ability to step in and hopefully be able to add at least some of what Anisimov was capable of adding.

Can't really see any other realistic options. Bourque underachieved offensively this year. I'd assume Christian Thomas isn't ready to step in and probably has the same problem as JAM in terms of contract and eligibility to play in the NHL. Can't see Zucc getting that time. I guess we'll have to hope Dubinsky steps it up as a permanent member of the 2nd line.

Does this mean we'll see Newbury again?!

Looked to me like he might have busted his collarbone, which could be 5-6 weeks, I'm no doctor, but I think I remember that correctly.

a 2 month injury (worst scenario) would put Artem out well into the playoffs. We are going to have to adjust the roster without him.

For now, our centers will be Richards, Stepan, Mitchell, Boyle. RWs are Gaborik, Callahan, Zuccarello, Prust. LWs are Hagelin, Dubinsky, Fedotenko, Rupp.

When did Avery ever add scoring to his resume with NYR; Bourque, while I like his potential will never play in NHL, to fragile. Wasn't C Thomas signed last year, he can't play until his season is over and I doubt he is on radar this year? It looks as if it's Dubi and Kreider when he signs.

Didn't Dubi seem destined for the fourth line, especially with Zuccarello in the mix?

Now maybe Torts will have to reunite him with Callahan on the second line, centered by Stepan.

Yup, I was just talking about a stop-gap until Kreider. Oh well.

The Hartford options are severely limited as has been pointed out, really the only signed center option right now is Newbury and unfortunately he was less than impressive in his early time here.

Hartford was weak on prospects for us this year as they were either already with the rangers or still in juniors/college.

The only real notables were Bourque, Hagelin, Kundratek

Oh, I almost forgot, we have Wellman who does have NHL experience.

Casey Wellman is the next logical call up. He has the talent to play in the top six as a stop gap till??

I watched him play 4 or 5 games with the Wild.

He actually stood out enough to me that when the Rangers traded for him, I knew exactly who he was. Good skater and shoots the gaps well. Not very physical, but gutty...

Guys I completely missed what happened to Arty, unless it was the play in the offensive zone on the half boards?

The options are imo either Newbury or Wellman. Would have liked Deveaux better than Newbs, but if he gets called up, he'd still need to serve his suspension.

If Wellman gets called up, we might see a third line of Wellman - Mitchell - Zuccarello, but that means a second line of Stephan, Dubinskyl and Boyle, and with Rupp - Feds and Prust on the fourth.

If they call up Newbury, or use Scott on the fourth line, I think we'll see Zuccarello on the 2. line with Stephan and Dubi.

they have to rest Arty as long as he needs so he's ready for the playoffs

If Cally comes back they have enough bodies but I agree with Wellman being the call up if they need someone. Unfortunately I bet Scott plays on the 4th line with Zuke moved up though

Assuming Cally is back
Hagelin, Richards, Gaborik
Dubinsky, Stepan, Callahan
Fedotenko, Boyle, Prust
Rupp, Mitchell, Zuccarello

Wellman is your best option in Hartford. 7 pts in 14 games with the Wild this year.

Wellman should come up until Callahan is ready.

Ryan Callahan and Michael Del Zotto both on ice for #NYR practice in Greenburgh today, as is Henrik Lundqvist. No Artem Anisimov

If Artem is out long-term, it basically rubber-stamps Kreiders arrival in NY.

Kreider may not be avialable for another 3 weeks if BC makes the Frozen 4. What am I thinking? BC will make the Frozen 4.
