17 games in March is ridiculous. This is not Tort's fault.

Starting to look so much like 05-06 from that stand point.

I dunno. I guess what I'm saying is might be that.. at the start of the year we were dominating and out working everyone... now at this time of the year, our work ethic is actually being matched, and our lack of skill is showing.

Maybe the injuries aren't anyones fault, but this team has looked tired.
The same Devils that got shutout two games in a row and something like 3 games in the 5 or 6?

Edit: I think it was closer to 3 in 8. Still, they got shutout twice in a row, they're looking great?

Would JAM even be eligible for the playoffs if he was signed? I thought it was only players on the team's reserve list at the trade deadline.

JAM is one year out of junior and a smaller player. Not sure I'd be ready to give him a full shot--especially considering we just brought up an even smaller forward in MZA. Getting Callahan, Lundqvist and MDZ back in the lineup should improve things. All are bigger losses to our lineup than Artie.

The AHL forwards I'd consider right now are Deveaux or Wellman. Deveaux probably first. He fits the 4th liner better. Top 6 if Artie's out--Richards, Gaborik, Hagelin---Stepan, Callahan, Dubinsky.

Devils are 12-3 in the shootout. They'd have 29 wins (I think) without those wins, and 12 less points.

Im guessing Dubi is moved to Center and we call up a winger until Kreider is done with his BC stuff and is available to come help us

Losing Artie is a MAJOR blow. He is one of our best defensive forwards. I was really hoping that he was going to replace Boyle as our third line center. I really hope that he isn't that banged up.

Can't we just call up Mike Eastwood as a C and Dallas Eakins on D?

You do not pick and choose when you play hard. You just play hard.

Who would not look tired playing so many games in March?

So what facet of the game do you propose that they let up on, early in the year? Block less shots? Not compete as hard on forecheck? Float instead of backchecking?

We do not have depth? Sure we don't. You can't have cap space and the depth at the same time. We shipped Wolski, Crist, our depth Fs, away because we needed space for Nash. Now we have sap space and nothing else. Even I wouldn't blame Torts wor wearing the team out.
I hope Cali is back and we can limp to the season end.

i don't exactly see a problem with dropping to the 4 seed, but anything lower and i'll be a little nervous. i'm not worried about going through new jersey or philly in the 1st round. if resting some players means giving the division to pittsburgh, i think i'm in favor of it.

Is this anything other than mere speculation at this point?

he's been putting up points, can play any role in the top 6, and has enough game to play anywhere on the bottom 6. Can play PP and PK. Wins big face-offs. This guy can't possibly really be underrated anymore among fans. I get that he's not a shiny awesome toy, but he's the kind of player that has filled out teams like Detroit for 2 decades.

Losing him will be noticable in a lot of little ways. If Dubi can find his game, he can make up for a lot of the loss of AA.

If Wellman has some game let's get him up here. I don't see any real reason to have Scott in the line-up with Rupp and Prust both healthy.

PHi signed Grossman and Kubina , this has helped Bryz find his game . Having a clear crease and seeing the puck does wonders for any goalie .
Pitt Has the two best Players in the world , one of the best offensive D men and a glut of secondary scoring ,I mean Matt Cooke has potted more goals than Dubi .
I think the NYR needs have been beaten to death but more imPortantly the NYR need some of their CHL / NCAA talent in AHL going forward and at least available in case of call up , as the AHL pool is shallow and we have nonspare forwards

He was checked cleanly by Vitale, shoulder to shoulder, he went into the boards but hurt his left shoulder which was the one that Vitale hit. Did not look too bad, I don't think he broke his collarbone as others have suggested and he was supposedly at the Rangers practice facility getting it wrapped which could be a separation or it could just be sore. If it was a broken collarbone he would be home today or depending on how bad of a break at the hospital for surgery unless they just did X-rays and were re-wrapping it.

Miller, McIlrath, Thomas, Yogan, Hobbs

Will all probably be added to the AHL lineup.
