Jeremy Lin forces TWC/MSG to come to an agreement

I'm sure everyone by now has seen the countless ads on MSG with TWC and MSG pissing on each by now. Is this anywhere close to a resolution or are we really going to have to switch TV providers if we have TWC right now?

You know it's going to go to the last ******* second.

The only difference is that this time it affects Manhattan apartment buildings, where there is often no way to change, and Manhattan apartment buildings are home to some rich and powerful lawyers. Yay, watch for blood!

Is there anyway to switch providers or are you stuck with TWC?

You can switch if where you live allows it. I live in a building that has a massive bulk discount with TWC; switching in many buildings in Manhattan is just not realistic.

If you live in a building (or area) where FiOS or RCN are options then sure you can switch. Otherwise you're stuck waiting for MSG and TWC to resolve their contractual issues which will get done at some point...but hopefully before the channel is dropped.

I dunno what my options are. I live in a manhattan apartment building, so like many others I might be stuck.

If MSG really does get dropped and I can switch I will, because sports is the ONLY reason I get cable. 95% of my TV use at home has been A) rangers games and B) yankees games. Other shows I download instead of watching them on the air.

If TWC is the only provider that has wiring in your building you (like me) will be SOL. If RCN and/or FiOS have also pre-wired your building then you can switch by making a phone call.

The Dolan family have a history of these money/power grabs.

Time Warner is really no better.

Both trying to get a leg up in the court of public opinion.

Both suck.

Find it hilarious being threatened with losing Rangers games when upstate more often than not when the Sabres are playing the Sabres game is the one MSG puts on. I just rewrite the script about losing Rangers games to losing Sabres games and it's all better.

honestly i can't believe the # of "pissing contest" commercials on MSG. BOTH SIDES have the piss commercials on during every freaking rangers game. It's the one thing I didn't miss on tonight's versus broadcast.. the god damn ads of MSG bashing TWC and TWC bashing MSG.

I'm stuck in a TWC only building in Manhattan.

I find it funny that MSG allows TWC to buy ad-space to slander MSG. The things Dolan will do for a buck...

I have the same issue here in Queens. My apartment building only has Time Warner. They sign some kind of exclusivity deal and TWC gives them some kind of kick-back per apartment. I don't even know how it's legal, since I'm almost positive that FiOS is available in my neighborhood, and the building won't allow them to run lines in.

It sucks, because I had FiOS where I used to live in Queens, and it was far superior service, and cheaper. I don't even get a discount on Time Warner, I think the building management company just takes all the profit they get from their agreement with TWC.

I'd be curious to know who sells/owns the ad space. Common sense says MSG but is it possible TWC sells some local/regional ad time as well?

they don't buy the ad space. the cable companies are able to preempt comercials to run local ads... the reason you see local car dealerships commercials etc. they just use that process to override MSG's normal commercials with their own.

I'm pretty sure the network owns the ad time. Which means MSG approved the airing of all the ads slandering them.

There's one way to be sure though..

Any people here NOT on TWC see all the ads slandering MSG?

I'm not on TWC and I didn't see them. That's why I'm going to assume the poster above you is correct.

Been seeing them on DirecTV - ditching Time Warner was the best choice I made in my programming - they were terrible where I am in Upstate.

Get ready to switch. Ted Black President of the Sabres said this morning on local radio that he will be pissed if MSG is not on TW because he is a TW sub. He also said he sat in on a conference call yesterday and doesn't have any faith in a deal getting done to avoid it.
My DTV install is for Saturday. TW.....suck it!

Who's your provider?

And do you see the KeepMSG ads? (The ones that are pro-MSG anti-TWC)

Same here. Im going through Center ice and I don't see any of the adds of TWC bashing MSG. Only MSG adds bashing TWC.

Those MSG produced commercials about the TWC issue are hilarious... I mean the issue itself isn't a laughing matter but the fact that MSG is taking the time make those commercials on the matter is what I find funny....

Honestly, I don't know what's worse, the shake weight and car dealership commercials, or the TWC/MSG pissing contest commercials that replaced them.

I wonder how much money they spent on that, and how much money they're losing on ad space they could otherwise sell to shake weight.

I'll take the shake-weight commercials over those throat cancer commercials they kept showing a few seasons ago of the guy getting his neck hole swapped, any day of the week!
