Team in Quebec as early as next year?

Just caught the end.

Bobcat said Quebec is in the same position that Winnipeg was in last year. Added it's a "maybe to definitely" and as early as next year.

Can someone who listened to the whole segment add their comments.

Interesting that this thread pops up today.....

I was talking to a friend I know from University (He's an accountant in Quebec). He tells me that he's heard from a source close to the situation that there's a chance Quebec will have a team. He couldn't give me an exact % certainty, but said it's definetly somewhere between 0 and 100% certain.

See how easy that is? I should have a radio show...

I certainly hope they come back and come back soon! And look like this.

I always missed Quebec more than Winnipeg so this will be great to have them back in the fold.

I hope so, more teams in Canada the better and better off the league will be. They need to stop thinking American's are the be all end all. Its better to have 30 teams in the black then 10 in the red(just guessing no real merit to this just saying) and they need to understand that. Atlanta failed twice, I know Bettman is hoping to go back too you just know it.

Stick a team in Quebec, piss off the Montreal fans and put a team in Saskatchewan while we're at it

They would have to play in the Colisee with some renovations until a new facility was ready. Talk awhile back hinted at Phoenix.

Probably the team with no owner the past 3 years will move....just throwin it out there. Quebec still has its old building to use in the short term.

This. And as far as the old "colisee", it's being renovated for 6.8M over the summer.

Timing can't be better for me... Sick and tired of that crap Burke is icing.

McGowan actually said it would be Phoenix and that somebody will be spending $30 million on the Pepsi Centre.

My "this" was refering to the poster above saying it would be the NHL team without owners, implying the Phoenix Coyotes.

As for the renovations, it's 6ish M and it's already signed. After they bring a team here they will settle everything else to build a new arena which would be ready in 2-3 years top.

If this does happen. They'll probably make the playoffs before the Leafs do.

Naturally. Phoenix has been playing well beyond expectations, with first rate mgmnt in Maloney, Coaching under Tippet, a real Captain in Shane Doan, a breakout season for Smith in net. Because of the situation none of the players are on long term contracts so its hard to say how many might re-sign and or how hard new mgmnt might work tp build on the base established in Arizoma if the team lands in Quebec. Id say theres a better than 90% chance they will.

If Que is back, 8 teams in Canada would be amazing.

60% of the NHL is Canadian, at least a third of the teams should be.

Get Hamilton, a team and one more out west.

Haha you win the thread. I honestly hope Phoenix keeps the team just to shut up all the vultures.
