November 17, 1998 -- John Vanbiesbrouck made 25 saves and the Flyers went 7-for-7 on the PK in a 4-1 road win. Pittsburgh, owners of the NHL's top PP at the time, had the man-advantage for nearly half of the game's first 25 minutes but failed to score. The 0-0 tie was erased when Keith Jones scored off an Eric Lindros feed 19 seconds after the Captain exited the penalty box following a double minor. Rod Brind'Amour snapped a 1-1 tie 9:30 into the third period. Eric Desjardins scored three seconds into a PP with 4:22 to play which resulted in a bench minor to the Penguins when coach Kevin Constantine tossed a water bottle in disgust at referee Stephen Walkom for the initial infraction then refused to send out his players for the faceoff. Roman Vopat, acquired earlier in the day from Chicago, made his Flyers' debut and on his first shift crushed Victor Ignatiev against the boards in the game's final minute ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QYAFD71R9M ). as much as i wanna watch this game. i know its gunna be ruined by poor one sided reffing..
dont think i have the heart or blood pressure to spare to sit throu the Crosby-show..
prolly find something else to do with my day and just watch the game on replay if its worth doing.
if ever there was a reg. season must win game, its this one.
ps watch Rinaldo get a shanny suspension for getting even near Cindy C. tomorow
I am gonna go hit some golf balls and PVR the 1st half so I can FFWD through the impending love fest. The broadcast is going to be torture Would love to see the Flyers win by 2 or more , but 2 rooks and Carle on D vs healthy Pens will be tough.
If the Flyers do win this, imagine the huge boost it will be for the team, especially up against a team that has won 11 straight.
Well, it didn't work out when they tried to break the Red Wings home streak.
Maybe they can try to target Crosby early to provocate some overreaction from the Pens and capitalize on them when they are piling up minor penalties...or Bryz gets red hot again...or Giroux has a flashback and starts to put them into the net in bunches like he did at the begin of the season.
It will definitely take something special to beat this team.
