March 18th games

Today's relevant games:

TeamOpponentProjected points
Columbus2
Edmonton2

It's one of those win/win (or lose/lose depending on how you look at it) days where Edmonton plays one of the teams we want to knock out Calgary. After this there's two more games against L.A. like that.

On the other hand, Calgary has one of those games that they're expected to win against Columbus. This is a nice opportunity for failure, because if there's one team in the NHL pushing for the playoffs that can lose a must win game against the 30th place team in the league... it's the team that just lost to the 29th place team in the league playing without one of it's star players.

Two games to follow close tonight!

Now that every oiler game is showed in Calgary, I don't think as many people here hate the oiler's, I mean how can you hate all those young player's? They are talented and funner to watch then the old flame's who rely on kipper every night to win a game. I think alot of fan's here are sick of watching a team just rely on their goalie and want to watch some youth light it up.

Eberle and Nuge are probably 2 of the most humble star's I have seen in sports its hard not to like that.

This is one of the things I love about those 2. They're both future Lady Byng winners imo

Exhibit A: Look at how they react when Baertschi scores three goals. Three tap in, gift goals.

These people down here are hurting for any glimpse of hope.

Calgary is more than just their goalies, though he's a top 3 best in the world. They rely on Iginla and Glencross a lot too. Iggy and Kipper are pretty decent and humble players as well.

Top 20? Maybe.

You know how you tell who the top 3 goalies are? They've all pretty much got their team's spot in the playoffs locked up right now.

Imo if Oiler's could exchange dubnyk and kipper this year I bet the teams records would be flip flopped with one another. Iginla is great offensively, even though he loses almost every puck battle. His defence is horrible though Imo.

At this point in everyones career I would say the oiler's top 3 young player's are better than every player calgary has, minus their goalie.

Good thread. Might want to consider adding Dallas to your chart.

What a minute so kipper is the only reason we are close to the playoffs or else we would be where you guys are (by many of you fellow posters) but he isn't even a top ten goalie. I realize you guys haven't seen a legitimate starter in a while but Kipper is a top 10 goalie for sure this year.

How about having Rob Kerr replace Loubardias, good god that was has been a painfull mistake. Rob Kerr almost whisper's at different times during the game.

I just wanted to say that there maybe more oiler fans in calgary than there has been in past years due to constant oiler broadcasts, and the boring flames games driving away fans.

Kipper has been outstanding this year. I agree that if the teams traded goalies, that the teams would likely switch places in the standings. And I resent the comment that we haven't seen a legitimate starter in a while. We see one just about every game. Unfortunately he is playing for the opposition.

Fair enough. I would also agree that the teams biggest difference is the goaltending, I just find it funny how some people will **** talk about anything regardless of how try it is.

Throw in Iggy to haha. It would still be a horrible deal for oil. I predict Nuge and eberle to be near the 100 point mark in 4 years.

Wouldn't mind if something could be worked out for Bow.

If it wasn't the fact that it was the oilers and flames something centered around Jbow for Gagner would make sense.

Oilers would need to add more. Throw in omark and a 2nd?

I think im one of the only oiler fans that want the flames to make the playoffs. That being said i doubt they will but ill be rooting for them to. Why? Iginla deserves a decent run. Classiest guy in the world, great player sad to think a player like him doesnt have a cup and a ******* like cooke does.

Hah, very good point, stupid me for missing them.

I will do that ASAP when I have time... unfortunately it'll take some recalculations across the board.

What's a Flame fan doing in this thread? Do you enjoy self-punishment?

This is a joke right? Please be joking.

Seven words you have apparently never heard before: "Six Point Seven Million Dollars Cap Hit"

A centre with remaining untapped potential on a value contract, for one of the most over payed players in the game today? You think that's a deal the Oilers would want to do? Seriously?

Also, you know the flames have a no trade clause, right? Yeah, the entire team.

You want to make this deal realistic? Bouwmeaster for Horcoff and Chorney. That's a deal that actually has a chance to happen.
