Seven words you have apparently never heard before: "Six Point Seven Million Dollars Cap Hit"
A centre with remaining untapped potential on a value contract, for one of the most over payed players in the game today? You think that's a deal the Oilers would want to do? Seriously?
Also, you know the flames have a no trade clause, right? Yeah, the entire team.
You really enjoy giving your entire fan base a bad name huh? His cap hit is large about .5-1 million over what it should be but it is not a big deal going forward for us as we have alot of cap room and he is a number one defense men that can play over 25 minutes against other teams best players. I seriously question the amount of homerism you contain if you think Gagner has untapped potential he is a second line center that is mediocre at face offs and can't pk. He is a decent piece but I doubt any objective individual would see him being worth Jbow.

How the 'lames managed to get a point against the 30th place team, playing on the second night of a back to back, with a tough game against the canucks yesterday, I don't understand. But that's Calgary for you: when it really counts, C - L - U - T - C - H... clutch!
Awesome night....the aging slow declining Flames are about to miss the playoffs again....how is that not hilarious??? Ha ha......and looking at their future is even funnier......
I look forward to the day when threads like this are non existent as our team consistently makes the playoffs. I don't care about the future of the Flames, Leafs etc, the Oilers on the other hand have some serious tinkering to do in the offseason.
^^
I've been waiting for a return to glory since this team won it all in 1990 through many dark and gloomy periods, watched talent walk out the door after claiming it wasn't about the money only to sign elsewhere for mega bucks, miss the playoffs by a point or three or make it only to be destroyed by the ******* dallas stars, watch a mishmash ownership group trade every upcoming UFA in a bid to save money, draft toads, sign goats to big money/long term deals and **** the bed on a nightly basis.
Things are starting to look up around here for the first time in ages,
lets keep it in our pants for just a bit longer and not **** it up.
I love it that the Oilers have played a big role in helping the Flames sit where they are today. Before the game in calgary against the Oilers, the Flames were sitting pretty in a playoff spot. Then they lost 4 straight games after losing to the Oilers that night. Then before facing the Oilers in Edm, the Flames had won 5 games in a row and looking strong. Then the Oilers beat them again and now they've lost 2 straight again. And in the meantime, the Oilers have lost to all the other teams in the playoff race and given them 2 points each night. hahaha.. feels good.

The majority of people on Calgary puck would disagree with you..

Yes right on. In the end who cares what the Flames do? Kind of what losing teams do when there is nothing else to cheer for.
The contract might be the deal breaker but if he didnt have that much of a hit i'd welcome him. He'd be the oilers best defenseman in a heartbeat, or atleast tied with schultz.

I dont like to debate the +/- stat. I find it irrelevant and misleading. I would like to say, of a small sample size of flames games that I have watched against the oilers mainly that hes a solid d man. He has good reads decision making physical and most importantly he can move the puck up. Hes their leading dman in points. He may not be a top d man, but hes definately better than most of the oilers.

You want to make this deal realistic? Bouwmeaster for Horcoff and Chorney. That's a deal that actually has a chance to happen.
that it self is a moment and typical oiler response, "we dont need offence we have Hall, RHN, and eberle!" jbo is a number 1 dman, even if hes not scoring hes still better defensively than any oiler defence
