Wings' Franzen has left the ice, apparently in some discomfort.

Holmstrom took Franzen's place on line with Datsyuk and Bertuzzi.
YAY, what a great line....

This is crazy...

Still, the 1st line is better with Pavel + 2 concrete piles, than without him.

Possible lines:

Tuzzi - Pavel - Homer
Flip - Zeta - Huds
Drew - Helm - Cleary ?
Emmerton - AKader - Mursak ?

Since they're on the road, I wouldn't worry to much about the practice line combinations.

No call-ups (Nyquist) would be there yet so there's still hope that changes will be made before they hit the ice tomorrow.

Oddly enough I think he's at the food court during games too.

I wonder how many minutes into Game 1 of the playoffs we'll see a Cleary for Hudler swap in lines. Have to imagine it'll be quick.

this would be a good opportunity to photoshop rice's franzen slump face with some caption about a bacon cheeseburger and poutine.

They have 12 forwards with Franzen out and Pavel in. No call-ups needed (before someone else falls down).

Call me crazy but they've missed Pavel more than they've missed Nick...huge addition to the lineup.

I'm actually surprised Cleary wasn't promoted to the 1st line.

It's still close, not having Lidstrom puts certain players in roles they shouldn't be in.

Holmstrom has proven, despite is skating, he has the hockey IQ to keep up with what Datsyuk is trying to do.

Cleary just skates the puck into the corner and eats time when he's on the top lines. He's awful playing with Datsyuk or Zetterberg. And that is when he's healthy, which he hasn't been all year.

EDIT: PS - I wonder what is causing Franzen's back problems? It certainly isn't from carrying the team.

EDIT 2: My God, the past month has put me in a really bad mood.

i agree that homer works better with datsyuk than cleary does.

i think that cleary gets trapped on the half boards even more than in corners.

skate down the wing into the offensive zone, get pressured by d-man, stop on half boards while quickly looking around, backhand the puck into traffic. backcheck.

Couldn't have described it more accurately lol. It's funny, but it's so true.

I don't think having 2 guys on a roster that have had back issues is a surprise. Back pain is one of the most common problems that people deal with.

I never really understood the hoopla regarding back pain until i myself badly strained my back. It was honestly probably the most physical pain that i've ever experienced. When i was laying down i feared that i wouldn't be able to roll over to get up. I couldn't even look down to see where i was pissing for 3 or 4 days. But by far the worst part was the back spasms. They were occuring out of nowhere and it basically felt like somebody was suddenly stabbing you in the back, causing every part of my body to tense up. I have a pretty decent pain threshold (i rarely take pain medication for anything), but back spasms literally made me scream out loud. It probably looked like i was having mini-seizures.
