This will be another year of finishing 9th or 10th. Getting a mid-round draft pick and refusing to move anyone because we came so close. And of course we don't have a second for the next two years in deep drafts... We need to move a lot of bodies at the draft.
Our shootout attempts were pathetic, especially Glencross and Iginla. Seriously, have these guys never heard of a deke? Four guys and all of them try a ****** shot attempt.

Not even good shots for that matter. Glenncross ****ing shot directly in the logo. This team has played absolutely sloppy the last two games, I don't think Comeau could hit the ****ing net if it was 10 ****ing feet wider. **** **** ****

We appear to have done okay with last year's mid-round pick.
For me it's the most deflating loss of the year because of all the chances to score and it being so late in the year with us in the playoff hunt.
Comeau should have had at least one goal which was the game.
Tanguay's crossbar and goal line puck in the Edmonton game and all the chances this game = so close to 4 points but only 1.
Is this the start of a 1-6 run like last year? Or will this team take it to Colorado and Dallas twice in the coming weeks?
P.S. Stempniak looked good.
Yeah I'm with you. Comeau had a helluva game, he really deserved one. Might help his own cause by hitting the freaking net though.
I agree that Stempniak looked solid as well. Hopefully he can keep it up, this team needs everyone going at once if they're going to do anything in the next 9 games.

Flames losing to the worst teams in the NHL, sigh.
Regarding the shootout, didn't everyone get the memo that Mason switched to bigger pads? Gotta make him move side to side to create an opening.
(Olli at least tried his forehand deke shot, but didn't get it up high enough)

The time for moving bodies was the trade deadline.

The time to move players was at the deadline.
We have a ton of UFA's that had value at the deadline but are essentially valueless to us as trade chips now.
We appear to have done okay with last year's mid-round pick.
I would say that's more of an exception than a rule... Baertschi is widely considered to be a steal in the first round, we can't bank on that bailing us out every year we don't finish in the top 8.
How much hype did Bartschi have going in? I don't think a lot of people knew a ton about him and I know there were some of us who were hoping we picked someone like McNeil.
We've seen Fowler, Couturier and Hamilton drop out of their projected rankings and I'm hoping we're in a spot to take a player like that.

Not too much hype due to the forward depth at the draft. I remember I wanted to take Armia, now I'm glad we didn't.
This year we could possibly get lucky again if someone starts to slip, I'm hoping for Reinhart.
