I absolutely agree with this. I still have no idea why they changed their system. High octane offensive hockey was WSH.
It's funny, everyone kept saying, "OMG THEY CAN'T WIN IN THE PLAYOFFS WITH THAT SYSTEM!"
Yet every series they lost was in game7, not like they constantly got their ass kicked. And when they did change, they lost to Tampa in 4...
I don't care what anyone else says, but Bruce is actually a pretty good coach.

BB started this defensive change to save his job.

Nope... The Capitals play 1-2-2 and the forechecker is the center, hes usually first one back.

Exactly the new system doesn't allow him to float.
Hunter is confused!! playing with one man pressure while the wingers head back is just retarded.

Waaa. The best goalscorer in the NHL plays in a trap and he's put up another 50 goal season this year.

I think Ovechkin's more popular than every Canadian player except Sidney Crosby.
This is simply not true

That identity was voided by the nhl when they decided to stop calling penalties for int and holding.
They tried to keep going with that identity, it just wasn't working.
Injuries also hurt.
Talk to Bettman and his refs if you want to see the old caps.

Because both teams are exactly the same. Each player on the Lightning is a perfect clone of each player on the Capitals.
Same with the coaches.
I hate the "Well this guy is doing it, so why isn't this guy...?" argument. It's silly.
And you're also talking about a group of players that's been playing a certain system longer than another. A steady, stable system.
