“Last game in Winnipeg, we felt that might [have been] a big turning point in our season,” Troy Brouwer said. “So to come in here tonight and to not get one or two points, we’re really digging ourselves a hole, really putting ourselves in a tough spot, especially going into Detroit tomorrow.”

Detroit is on a 4 game losing streak, we are... just bad... lets not embarrass ourselves...

I'd love to see a Caps win.

If both teams play their best games, I'm afraid it'll be 7-2 Wings. :/

Boudreau beat them 7-1. I expect Hunter to match that.

I fully expect them to lose this one...and the next one...and possibly the next one.

I wonder if Holtby plays tonight? Neuvy gave up a lot of big rebounds last night so one would think it is possible.

On another note, one very inspiring team to watch is the Carolina Hurricanes. Their captain was the best player last night on the ice by far. When is the last time we could say that? Sigh.

I think its become more than clear that Neuvy and Vokoun are not going to get it done for us. Vokoun was in a groove for a month or so, and is now injured. Probably his ****ing groin from our ****** ice. What happened to Neuvy anyways.

For the love of O Canada play Holtby.

Maybe get the Canadian Media on our side, and maybe get some f'in calls for f'in GD once.

Do we even have 8 shots on goal under Hunter yet?

About six days ago, against the Islanders?

Christ, Caps fans are becoming Pens fans but in a reverse way.

Instead of "Crosby's still da best player in the NHL, even if he didn't have any armz! Pens4Cup"

We are becoming, "Man, Ovechkin is so terrible he'd be lucky to be playing for the Orlando Solar Bears! Caps4Lottery!"

I was banking on a WPG win and a point out of either Chi or Det. I will go out on a limb. I think the team surprises us tonight.

(and that could be because of an even huger putrid effort, LOL)

He had two goals and that was a good game. But while watching the game would I have said he was the hardest working player on the ice? Probably not.

Look, he is a good player but the way he is playing right now is not worth 9.5 million dollars!

Well, what do you want, first you commend Staal for being the "best" player on the ice, now you want to talk hardest working? Dude put the puck in the net 3 times that game, twice in regulation and once in the shootout. That's the best player on the ice. If it's hard working you want, lets give Stone Hands the C then. At least you know he will bust his ass every game even if he looks like a clown sometimes.

Is Ovi ever the hardest working player on the ice?

Hardest hitting? Sure. Highest-pace/energy? Yep. Best? Many, many times. But those are different things.

Yea, if we want our goal scoring, sniper wing to be our "hardest worker", we are in some damn bad shape as a team. I sincerely couldn't care less if the guy floated 80% of the game like his first couple years if we are getting 50-60 goal Ovy back.

Ha. Don't even pretend that he's currently a 30 goal scorer because he busts his ass and plays solid d. He does neither.

At this point I would settle for some obvious leadership out of the gentleperson who wears the C for the Caps. Getting in front of cameras or reporters and taking the bull by the horns. Proclaim performances like last night will no longer be tolerated. Or state practices off and optional skates are no longer going to cut it. And then lead by example.

This team is teetering on the brink. Its time for its Captain to do more than score a highlight reel goal when the team is already down 4-1. Thats what I want.

It wouldn't even bother me so much that they play a trap if they were any good at it.

Considering the major egg layed last night, with the 8th spot hanging by a thread, its great to read something like this:

After arriving in Detroit about 1 a.m. because of fog delays, the Caps just hit the ice here at Joe Louis Arena – and it’s a very optional one.

Only Joel Ward, Jeff Halpern, Roman Hamrlik, John Erskine and Braden Holtby are on the ice.

Frankly I'm surprised anyone skated. Late flight on the overnight of a back-to-back? I'd take my chances with the extra rest vs. the extra ice.

Halpern in tonight, probably for Ward, according to TEB.
