Not sure if you know that prospects take 3 years to develop. With the uncertainty of what draft position the Leafs will have, it's not a given we will pick a forward that will be a first liner. We already have prospects which are projected to be fringe first liners. Don't need more of them.

It's time to push to get into playoffs. The players are about to peak, and the playoffs will be valuable lesson for them.

With that being said. We aren't making the playoffs.

To the first point: who? Kadri? Colborne? Last time I read these boards those kids were projected to be fringe 2nd liners, not 1st. And we "don't need more of them"? Are you serious? We have Tyler Bozak as our no. 1 centre right now and after Colborne, no legitimate centre prospects (counting Kadri as wing here). If anything, we need MORE of them, because of how uncertain we are with our current pool of prospects. And the likes of Galchenyuk/Grigorenko would be a big upgrade on Joe C, don't kid yourself.

As for the second point: maybe you should've told the team that before we went into that awful slump. Where was that push when it counted? Answer: it disappeared like Kulemin's goal-scoring abilities. Now it's ready to rear its head again when the chips are down and there's nothing but pride on the line, realistically speaking. And I love how one of the younger teams in the NHL is "about to peak" according to you

And I'm aware that it takes time for prospects to develop but the chances of playoffs are slim to none and I would rather this team do the right thing for once and not go on a season-ending meaningless win streak that ends up costing us a legitimately skilled prospect that we are in DIRE need of. How do you think teams like Boston, St. Louis and Chicago continue to do well? Because they don't draft skilled players year after year right?

I love how suicidal this board was last week, but a little 2-game win streak happens and now everything's all shiny and sparkly. Absolutely ridiculous.

Loser talk! It is this kind of a mind-set that Burke and Carlyle are trying to eliminate from the Leaf culture. This theoretical nonsense that a slightly higher draft pick is more important than a winning culture just has to go. It has no basis in fact. If it did, winning franchises(eg. Wings,Canucks) would would not exist as success would be self-defeating. In an era of salary cap, free agency and early UFAs; scouting farm team development and a winning culture, is much more important than draft position.

We're gonna win. And tomorrow too. In fact we will keep winning...all the way until the last game. Which will decide if we make it or not. And there we will be embarrassed something like 7-1.

I totally expect this to happen. Serious.

I didn't know we have Grigo and Galy locked up.
Colborne, Kadri and Ashton are all projected to be solid second line players. I don't know where you got the info from.
The statement "we don't need more of them" means that we need legit top line talent. We have no chance of getting that centre by tanking.

I would rather have them show some pride than give this season up. If we had a legitimate chance at top 3 pick, I would say go for it. But it's extremely unlikely it's going to happen.

All the legit talent in this team is about to peak in 3-4 years. Don't see where I am wrong.

No matter how much the fans want to tank, the players are really not going to give up. They are just not wired in that way. The reason why they are in the NHL is because they enjoy playing. Losing doesn't make this life exciting.

I was never in the tank bandwagon.
