A big misconception is good dj vs. good producer also

Avicii? Great producer, knows what sounds to put together. But he really isnt that fantastic of a dj.

A-Trak? Phenomenal DJ, love his mixing abilities, and his producing skills are pretty solid

And so on and so on

Yes yes yes! BIG misconception! Although many of the newcomers to the EDM genre (Avicii, Alesso, Jeremy Olander, Nicky Romero etc.) are solid producers they can't compare with the good oldtimers when it comes to DJing like Carl Cox, John Digweed, Sasha etc.

Funny topic though: Which of the youngsters do you think combines producing and DJ skills the best?

Never seen him live, but the mixtapes/livesets from Mat Zo sounds really good and his productions are extremely solid. Anyone who can confess?

From what I've heard from people who got VIP last year, the only worthwhile benefit is the VIP line which is a lot shorter than the GA line. That being said, if you get to the venue early, the line really isn't too bad. The only time my group had to wait in like more than 15 minutes was Sunday night when we got there at about 11.

As much as I dislike the guy, he really is a good DJ. Maybe not so much now, but if you listen to some of his old mix compilations or live sets from the early 00s, he's very talented both technically and in terms of putting together a cohesive set. The Magik and early ISOS series are just awesome.

Oh and Ultra is streaming live on YouTube:

lol Martin Solveig is terrible.

Watching Carl Cox ripping it right now! What a f***ing magician behind those decks he is! It's a rave going on right now, not a concert like all those other shows.

Youtube comments during his set are sad and hilarious at the same time.

When a bunch of 14 year old kids expect to see Skrillex and Tiesto this is what you get. But Cox' set was simply amazing. The crowd looked like they were having a good time as well !

Anybody know how to get this to stream in Canada? I tried using hidemyass to block my IP but it still doesn't work.

Would really like to check out some sets.

And count me in as someone who is going to Elements and to EDC!

I'd say deadmau5 is a good producer but a terrible live DJ. The one time I saw him he had no energy in his setlist. It was terrible.

As far as decent producing but wicked setlists. Hardstyle is the way to go. It's not groundbreaking stuff, but when it comes to live shows nothing beats it for the fun factor. I would never miss seeing Showtek or Headhunterz live ever.

I really like Sander Van Doorn. I think he's pretty underrated.

Tiesto is hit or miss. He's done some good stuff, but I won't go out of may to see him. (although he was my first live EDM experience and pretty much changed my view on the genre).

I like EDM that has a certain amount of energy, happiness and flow that keeps the night feeling young.

Haven't been very impressed by what Alesso has produced in the past six months, but this remix is on the level he was about a year ago!

He just freaking killed it. That crowd doesn't seem to loud, but he got them to be probably the loudest I've heard yet. Loved that remix of "Mr. Mister".

Proteus has been voted the best hard dance DJ in the world years ago...I've seen him live dozen of times...always brings A show plus mixes well even jumping/dancing around the decks plus he is great guy off the decks...partying and drinking in the crowd himself and chatting with ravers.

The best (small) hard dance club in Helsinki is called: Säde. Proteus and some others:
