Would someone even consider Ovechkin, and what's his price?

I'd hate this trade but i think..

Sharp + Hossa + 2012 1st would get it done

It's amazing how Kovalchuk, Iginla and and even Malkin had a couple of sub par years....now it's " Malkin is the better player and will out score Ovi, Kovy has turned it around"......he'll turn things around...I have no doubt

I'd give up everything on the Flames for OV

In my opinion the answer to this question is different now than it was two or three years ago. Ovechkin's production has dropped off. The asking price would probably be a lot higher than a lot of GM's would be willing to part with right now.

Modern hockey fans and people in general will overweight two bad years over five great seasons.

Did they at least throw in a 5th round draft pick?

In terms of worth I think the sens could propose karlsson + zibanejad + michalek + 2012 1st to get the caps listening.

Malkin had one bad season. He scored 77 in one (95 point pace) and 37 last year (71 point pace). Only last year can actually be considered bad and he missed half the season.

Iginla's peak is 50 goals/95 points. So for him to drop to 35 goals/70 points isn't that drastic. Compare that to Ovie whose peak is 65 goals/120 points and has dropped to 35 goals/70 points. Iginla is also 34.

Kovi's peak is 50 goals/95 points. He had one flub (last year), but is back at it this year.

Main point is that all Ovi has had a higher peak than any of these guys and has fallen further than basically all of them.

No thanks. Ovi will be in the KHL before long anyway.
