Both coaches should be suspended for this ridiculous display of stage fighting. What was the purpose for the fights? Those fights had nothing do with the game itself. The only thing it does is give the NHL a bad name.

Philly? I doubt Shelley dresses for them so makes them kind of pointless.

Ya modern hockey is Bickell punching Carter when he was on the ice.

Can someone explain why they do it right at the start of the game? I get it, they don't like each other. But take it out on them during the game, harder hits and such. Let it go with the flow of the game.

#beauts this would be an unreal round 1 matchup, but thatd mean either NJD have to finish 8th, or 5th

It might have been a third-man-in scenario. I think it was Salvador that jumped in when Carter started bleeding all over the place.

Is that the usual penalty for being third man in though? I'm not sure.

Bickel vs Carter; best fight of the year!

All in all Carter won by a slight margin because he cut Bickel up in 3 spots although Bickel got him bloodied up pretty bad. Nevertheless awesome fight by both players. Much respect!

I hope this is a joke. I would pay so much money to be at that game.

NHL needs more old time hockey....it's not like the KHL brawls where goons recklessly go out and try to injure the other team

At some point in the game when the guys are handing out penalties, you're just like screw it, I'm not gonna bother calculating it out. If I'm too lazy to think about it from home then I don't blame them for getting it wrong sometimes.

To set the tone I'd guess.

And its not like that was it, game has been very physical.

Not really. The two teams like to set a tone for the game, and they set it right off the bat.

Agreed, it's been an exciting game. It's not often I'll watch too many other games around the league outside my Coyotes, but I'm enjoying this one.

lol when Stu freaking Bickel is taking the opening faceoff, you know he isn't thinking of scoring any goals.
