It's a major penalty, and therefore should not be part of the game.

Imagine those guys watching hockey in the 70s. They would be traumatized after a game.

A lot of pent up emotion between these two clubs. When you share the same region, and the same media, you tend to hear a little too much about the "other guys" than you care to.

Decades of hockey and fighting....and now suddenly it shouldn't be part of the game?

I wish the Ducks could play games like this again.

In reality the West is so soft compared to the East

To who? And why give a sh**? Clearly you're in the minority with that opinion so stop representing it like it's the truth bc clearly you're wrong.

Love tje people coming to the hockey fights section to cry about hockey fights makes no sense

All the people who say we need more of this stupidity in the game, need to go back and take a closer look at the state of hockey in this country 20 to 30 years ago when it was roller derby on ice. (For those of you who weren't even born yet, use that newfangled Google technology). Go back and watch those games, note the quality of the play, the state of the arenas, the money in the game, the size of the fan base in this country and the investment companies made in all aspects of the sport. Then compare it today. Be careful what you wish for. The good old days were actually pretty ****ing terrible compared to today.

Ahh, just noticed this thread got moved to the Hockey Fights forum when I was posting.

I can't either. This kind of emotion and energy with rival teams is awesome, it is the one thing the NHL is missing the most. Rivals that hate each other and play like it.
Those people who are offended by this can stop watching, your pissing and moaning is whats really wrecking this once great game. Your group who don't understand hockey is what gives the scribes @ ESPN ETC who have no clue about hockey legs to write and report there ridiculous stories.

To me personally, that's how both a rivalry and mutual respect are built.

Well, we don't get a line brawl to start the game off every night. I think this is such a big deal tonight is because it's so rare now.

Fighting should be in the game. Three staged fights at the drop of the puck shouldn't.

The bolded covers every sport 30 years ago.

Quality of a product is better in 2012 than 1982. Shocking stuff.
