Well the poster I quoted stated that "fighting is a major penalty and shouldn't be in the game"

Hence...my response of "The ****?"

Disgusting display on the ice tonight. Why were there no ice girls cleaning the ice?

Wait, what are we talking about again?

This. If it happened every game, they'd be boring.

Torts was really not happy about that. Was actually hilarious seeing his reaction pre and post fight.

And do you think the NHL would have anywhere near the fan base in this country or the corporate money it has today if the game still had the retarded bench clearning brawls and bloodbaths of the late 70s?

Sorry, but there just aren't enough mouth breathing, knuckle draggers in this country to support that type of league. The NHL today lives on corporate money and families, and blood and teeth on the ice 16 seconds into a game from a staged fight ain't going to sell well to that demographic.

It's hard to argue that the fights won't have an outcome.

I thought it was awesome. Bickel's and Carter's faces later on in the game made me lolzzz.

No one is asking for this to happen every single game. And why are hockey fans taking a stance on behalf of non hockey fans as if THIS is the reason they don't watch the game? I can guarantee that several of my friends who don't watch hockey regularly are going to ask me tomorrow if I saw the line brawl.

Wow, awesome to see there's still some good old hockey spirit left! That was the best thing hockey has offered me tonight, especially after watching 1st period of Caps @ Wings.

I really just do not like Torts at all.

You get to see the Devils lineup before you submit yours... if you're really not happy with DeBoer putting out the fourth line, play your first line, skate by them, and score! Janssen, Boulton, and Carter are not dirty players... they aren't going to just grab people and fight them... you saw All players on the ice checked with their opponent before squaring off.

Instead of screaming and yelling like a child Torts, put out an offensive line... and those fights don't happen.

Jeez, what Bickel did made what Kunitz did look like tickling.

You expect Torts to trust the Devils 4th line not to engage his best players? I can easily play the other side of the coin and say this doesn't happen if DeBoer, who sets the tone, puts his best line out there.

I thought it was awesome. I'm tired of seeing people whining about something that's been a part of the game forever.

I'm not saying what DeBoer did was right... but he did what he did, Torts obliged. The Devil AND Ranger players got on the ice, talked to eachother and agreed to fight. Torts also puts a defenseman who has never taken a faceoff in his life up at the center position... It's also the third time this has happened this season... and he's going to be upset about it now? It was pretty easy to read lips and see what he was saying on the bench to DeBoer... what a baby.

He won that fight. Bickel dragging his face on the ice and punching him while he's on the ground isn't winning a fight.
