Sorry, Maxwell hasn't really been on my radar at all this season so I found it odd that he'd be the one getting the call.

EDIT: i see ps shares my concerns. Though i'd love to see klingberg up i can see why they would have prefered a natural center, but i still don't get how Maxwell > Cormier/Macanaur
Since Keith McCabridge was Noels Assistant Coach last season with the Moose he usually leans on him too find out who is playing the best with the Ice Caps and calls that player up not the one with a higher draft position

I wouldn't have been basing it on draft position either.

It just seemed that Cormier has played very well lately, and given his healthy cup of a coffee up here last year, his good face-offs, and the fact we've lost a big bodied center, he seemed like the more appropriate call up.

That and that Macanaur was essentially a roster player in Anaheim before coming over here I'd have had them over maxwell, who for what i've seen in his call-ups so far has been relatively invisible (not necessarily bad, but not exactly confidence-inspiring)

Mind you, I'm basing this more on what I haven't heard about maxwell compared to what i have heard about Cormier/macanaur.

also i notice macanaur is injured so he's out.

Any st john's fans able to weigh in on this decision?

I'm actually pretty happy about this game. I don't expect a win so I'll be able to sit back and just enjoy watching hockey. I don't want the Jets to re-enact the Boston/Toronto game last night though.

We're in tough tonight. We've got to go all out and leave it all on the ice. We're only going to win this game if we outwork the Pens.

Go Jets Go!

Wonder if #87 will have his head on a swivel when he's on the ice the same time as Bogo?

Is Jones playing ahead of Clitsome again tonight. Sheesh. This makes zero sense.

I heard an argument that they are playing Jones ahead of Clitsome out of some sense of loyalty because he has been here all season. My take, Jones is a UFA and won't be back next year. Clitsome is signed through the 2012/13 season. Clitsome is the man. Use him now. Make Malkin and Crosby fear coming into our zone.

Oh, but before that: I agree. The Jets CAN win this, they CAN win road games, etc. This road game nonsense is all in their head. They will have to put EVERYTHING on the line tonight, but it's doable, though very difficult. That's a durned good team in Pittsburgh.

Go Go!
I agree that they can win road games. Hopefully they'll start Mason instead of Pavs since from what it looks, the defence hangs Pavs out to dry on the road but not Mason.

Agreed. Like what I've seen of Clitsome's play so far.

It would have been nice to see Cormier get the call ahead of Maxwell.

It wasn't an argument. This is what the coaching staff said. Clitsome would be nice to have out there tonight though.

I hope Clitsome is playing, although I'm not sure it's going to make much of a difference. This will more than likely be a 40 plus save night for Pavelec. The key to the game is playing in the Pittsburgh zone as much as possible. Do not try and run and gun with them again PLEASE!!! Tighten up and play some freakin' playoff hockey!!! Really missing Antro and Thorburn...either way...this could be one of those games...

GO JETS GO! GO JETS GO! GO JETS GO!

Would really rather have Clitsome in there, especially after his good showing vs. Ovechkin. Not saying he would do the same against Crosby or Malkin, but, why change something that worked so well?

Ah well, like others have said, this one is coming down to a 40+ save night from Pavelec.

"The ‘now’ is very good in Chicago. The ‘now’ back in the days when they were drafting first, second and third? It wasn’t very good. But the core of fans that stuck with them, if you asked them now, I betcha they’d say it was worth it.” - Kevin Cheveldayoff

It bothers me that this was their logic. Personally, I would much rather have seen Clitsome in, but Jones did play good in his last game, so I wouldn't have minded him getting the nod for that performance. The fact that this was the reasoning is an issue. As stated jones is ufa this season and I don't foresee (..well I certainly HOPE) we don't resign him, and we have Clitsome going forward who has really played well and would much rather see him then Jones in for the remainder of the season

Coach Claude Noel Game Day Press Conference

Ask and ye shall have!

Coach Noel presser: What needs to be said to the players? Facing the Penguins. Scoreboard watching. Injury talk (No Fehr or Antropov). Talking about last time Jets played in Pittsburgh. Good things to be taken from previous road games. Thrashers past history in Pittsburgh a concern? Always a way to win games. Never taking teams lightly.
