I strongly recommend that someone shadows Malkin tonight.

Ah well, like others have said, this one is coming down to a 40+ save night from Pavelec.
Amen - Clitsome would have been a better choice to defend against Malkin, IMHO. Jones is steady, and was one of the better players against Carolina (not that that's saying much...), but Clitsome pwned Ovie when they were on the ice together, and not just with the big hits, but in several subtle ways as well.

40+ saves? I'm guessing 50+ saves is what it will take the Jets to pull off a miracle.

I think tonight you're going to see Antropov's and Thorburn's value to this team - the PK is going to have a tough time defending against the Pens without Big Nik, and the Jets will need Machachek to step up and lay a beating on a Penguin that Thorburn would have done if he were playing tonight.

No way do the Jets allow 50 shots on net tonight.
Since when is Machachek our "tough guy". The Jets are not lacking in players that will step up when needed.

The Pens are beatable. It won't take divine intervention, it'll take the Jets playing a good game.

A lot of negativism here.

Remember this is the same Jets squad that has pulled out some amazing gutsy performances and won. They have the ability to play with just about anybody in this league.

Go Jets Go!

What Hainsey with 6?

Peanuts. I once heard he scored over 9000.

I heard an argument that they are playing Jones ahead of Clitsome out of some sense of loyalty because he has been here all season. My take, Jones is a UFA and won't be back next year. Clitsome is signed through the 2012/13 season. Clitsome is the man. Use him now. Make Malkin and Crosby fear coming into our zone.
I was with everyone else scratching my head when they dressed Jones ahead of Clitsome last game and Jones went out, was a +2, was a GREAT penalty killer and actually had a couple big hits.

I don't think you take Jones out, it sends the wrong message. Let me be clear in saying I loved Clitsome in the games he's played for us so far. He has a very nice skillset and adds a lot to our team. Having said that, he is young, inexperienced and could benefit from just practicing and watching.

I wouldn't have been upset if they dressed Clitsome, but I can see why they didn't (tonight)

Clitsome turns 27 next month. He has played 98 NHL games over the past 3 years. He is far from being young and inexperienced.

Playing 98 games over 3 years is inexperienced. As for 27 being young, it's not exactly grizzled vet for a defenceman, especially with such few games played.

This is for all intents and purposes his rookie season

I would agree with you EXCEPT they just did the EXACT same thing to Clitsome. IMO, Clitsome was the best defenseman on the ice in the Washington game. He has was rushing the puck, pressuring, hitting, and shut down Ovi by being in his face all game. Then is scratched. That's ********, IMO. This has happened before with Machacek as well, best Jets player then is sent down to St. John's. That shipped has sailed for Noel, he clearly does not care how you played last game when making roster decisions.

But yes, I think that it should be like that. Also this loyalty/guys been here all year thing is a bunch of ****ING ********!!! What the **** do you think deadline acquisitions are, Noel. Are you kidding me, you go with the best players regardless of how long they are here, they are pros they know what this game is about. Don't agree with him in the slightest about that argument.

Claude Noel's decision on whether Jones or Clitsome plays might come from how they look in practice or how they might match up against the other team. I doubt his decision is based on loyalty.
