if/when Geno wins the Ross this year that will be the 14th time in the past 20 seasons that a Penguin has won the award.

Lemieux - 6
Jagr - 5
Crosby - 1
MAlkin - 2

I can't believe Sid only has one. I mean the guy puts up points in his sleep. He need's to stay healthy for 70 games. I don't want no Stamkos or heaven for bid Giroux taking them.

If sid was healthy he'd be working on number 3 this year. Would prob have run away with it last year.

21pts in 12gp......insane

I don't want to get greedy, but if our PP can get hot down the stretch, Malkin could have a shot at the Rocket if Stamkos cools off.

Sid has also just taken over the race when he sprained his ankle in '08, hadn't he? It was right after The Sporting News declared Lecavalier the best player in hockey.

All depends on health. I think we all know that *if* those two are healthy there should be no player in the league that can take the ross from the Penguins outside of Ovechkin and Backstrom becoming the old OV & Backstrom again.

I don't think Stamkos has enough help to out point Sid and Geno. Nor does Giroux. The Sedins are getting older and probably won't win an art ross again.

As we all know though injuries change everything. *knocks on wood*

I really want Malkin to hit 50 goals, 1 or 2 tonight would be a great start!

Neal to 40 for me. Such a sweet number.

Geno to 50 would be nice but its not all he's about.

Update: Malkin now 10 up on Giroux with a game in hand and 11 up on Stamkos.

Art Ross race officially no longer interesting. Two new interests: One, does Malkin hit 100 before anyone hits 90? Two, can Malkin actually catch Stamkos, who's gone super cold, for the Rocket Richard?

I don't even care if Malkin wins the rocket, it's pretty slim IMO. Lots of hockey to be played, and Stamkos is still 5 goals ahead. I just want Malkin to reach 50 goals, then hopefully be a 50 goal guy every other season. 5 more goals, 9 more games.

I want this...

Pens to reach 50 or more wins...4 away!
Fleury to have 45 wins....5 more away!
Neal to reach 40...5 more away!
Cooke to reach 20 for the first time in his career...3 more away!
Crosby to get atleast 1 goal to get the monkey off his back.
Pens to finish 1st in the East, 2 points away!

That is about it....

Two games against the Isles next week. I hope we go all stack the score on them.

I expect (hope) 10 points for Malkin in those 2 games. Let's do it, Son!

7-2 win...3 goals 3 assists
5-1 win...2 goals 2 assists

Malkin: "I want score"

Geno pretty much has this locked up - now for James Neal - tied with Kessel for 4th in the scoring race. Just insane.

LOL I still have the video playing in my head of Crosby circling the entire Isles team trying to catch Sedin for scoring title.

Whats funny is most of those have a very good chance.

I still cant believe we traded GOGO for an 80 point winger(almost a lock for 80) and a really good number 5 d man lol. Oh and that winger is going to make 300k more per season than gogo....like wow.

Canuck fans were sweating for a bit there. Hopefully that can be Malkin...imagine missing 7 games and getting around 115 points? only to see next best at 95.

As for the post mgd525 made....they all do have a good chance of happening, although i don't see Neal getting 40. I think 38 he will get. But Cooke has had what...3 goals in 3 games? perhaps he has 3 more in him. We all know Malkin SHOULD reach 50, as he still has 9 games left. Pens should finish the season with more then 4 more wins, i'll say they finish 7-1-1 and finish with 53 wins, which means Fleury may reach 45 wins, but maybe not. I'd play Thiessen against the Islanders both times, and give Fleury the breather. Fleury may finish at 44, or 43. I predicted 42 IIRC? like 3-4 days ago. Rangers may give us a run for our money for finishing 1st in the East, so that, and Neal i dunno about. They have won like 2 in a row, and even if we tie them they will still remain 1st because of ROW. Give Neal some consistency, i could see him being a 90 point guy...40 goals, 50 assists. He's at 41 assists right now, for 20th best in the NHL.

It didn't seem like that long ago that 50 goals was a long shot. Now, I'll be shocked if he doesn't notch 50.

That's what 5 goals in 2 games does for ya.

Wonder what it would take to win the Rocket at this point. Even though he's gone cold, you have to figure Stammer at least gets to 55 or so. I find it hard to picture Geno winning the Rocket, much as I want him to.

Hopefully Geno doesn't have the same problems with getting goal #50 as Sid did.

Oh wait, Old Man Guerin's ass ain't on the team anymore. No geriatric deflections to discredit you Geno.

Now go fourth and snipe that puck!!!!

It pisses me off though how Geno SHOULD be at 46 goals and 96 points right now. Remember that game where he was going for goal #4 in the final minutes but he was clearly interfered with (his stick was slashed clear out of his hand IIRC)?

Wasn't that against Tampa?
