A. A drop out of the playoffs isn't unheard of. The 96' Devils missed after winning the cup in 95'. They turned out okay over the next few years.

B. Vinny is a loss to the team, but he's just one guy. It's the continual drain of core players that really hurt us.

C. We don't know how bad Caron will be. If the DEL is comparable to the old-IHL, then Caron could be our Hedberg. (2001 Penguins)

Hedberg came in with 9 games to go, and finished the regular season with a 7-1-1 record. Those Pens went to the Eastern Conference Final with him in net.
