What is up with this? Is he slowly getting out of broadcasting or just being nice and giving Hedican an opportunity?
I personally can not stand Hedican, he just doesn't seem natural at it. He does make a good drinking game though. Drink everytime he says 'right there' or 'right here', or if you wanna go big drink everytime he says 'there' or 'here.' All he seems to do is recap replays without giving insight like Drew does.
Last night for example: 'Desjardins gets the pass there, shoots there, but Delorean there.' Anyone else notice this?
He seems to be taking a ton of time off lately though.
He took hardly any time off earlier in the season it seemed though (from what I saw and remember reading on here). If he gets a specific # of games off per year, it's possible that he banked them to the point where he could take a solid couple of weeks off all at once.

It doesn't seem like anything more than usual. And it's not like he's taking time off out of nowhere. Part of his contract is time off to see his family, and they noted in the beginning of the season that he'd miss 7 games.
OT a bit, but don't think it warrants a new thread... always wonder how much announcers make? What about post game analysis ppl? Just wondering if, for the analysts, this is a full fledged career or just a part time gig

Depends on what type of analyst. It's a full fledged career for the main hosts, since they used to be reporters/broadcasters and are now behind the desk (Duff, Tappen, etc). It's almost always a 2nd career for the color analyst as they are usually players, coaches, or current broadcasters.
I really like Hedican's analysis, but I think recognizing "less is more" could play a big role in becoming very good. You don't always have to talk, and for the love of god, "nice little play" is fine, but don't repeat it five or six times.
