I agree to certain extent.... I want a proven starting goalie or someone who is touted to be a franchise goalie... Rinne,Ward, King Henrik etc....all came through the system then got big money.

The other option is to pick up good goalies and play the trap... yippie

Niemi can't be blamed for the last goal.

He made the save on a shot that he absolutely had to stop because the score was 1-1 and the Sharks were still in the game.
In tonight's game, the Sharks had absolutely no right being in this game and probably would've lost regardless of whether Niemi saved the shot or not.
The guy gives up one soft goal a game. When hour team has a hard time scoring three that is to many to give up every Damn game. Once in awhile its okay but come on.

One hugely ironic thing is clear: If there is one thing that cost us this season, and conversely could have made this season have a completely different outcome, it's Havlat's injury.

That guy means more to this team than we ever imagined, and him being out was a huge, gaping black hole that was just camouflaged by the bright shine of our other stars.

By a certain way of looking at it, he actually might be able to be. The game was done and the team had pretty much given up at that point; if he hadn't let the 4th goal in, it's a 1 goal game that the team is playing with a lot more energy.

On a positive note (this is the only one I can find)...

On Thursday the Stars, Yotes, and Kings ALL play teams that include higher point totals and two of which are #1 and #2 in the Western Conf standings.

Stars vs. #2 Nucks
Yotes vs. Aves
Kings vs. #1 blues

We NEED to beat the Bruins. This is a chance for us to get our **** together and get back to where we were. I'm driving 4 hours to see Sharks vs Phoenix on Saturday and it better be worth it.

Having an average goalie on an average team will yield the results. The point of going cheap in net is to turn the average team into a good team. A good team can get away with average goaltending if it is built correctly.

What got us Niemi is overreacting to his availability. And what has hurt this team was keeping him at 3.8 mil and giving him market value rather than staying cheap in net. Plus, if you do it the right way, it doesn't necessarily mean you're going with average level goaltending.

A good formula for quite some time was the Preds way. They drafted, groomed, and moved them off when they were in the position to cash in. Those goalies can play a good quality level while being cheap.

I love the negative response to me saying there are still nine games left. Three points back in the division, time to give up eh?

You should do a funeral GDT. It'll be dark, but very appropriate.

I pin it 90% on Nemo.
The 1st goal, a SH. Defender does the right thing and takes away the pass, a cup contending goaltender makes the save. Thomas, Rinne, Fluery, Miller etc makes that save. The Sharks where "winning" the game at that point. They were strong on fore-check, winning draws and drew the first penalty.
Even though Marty tied the game, the Sharks where on their heels as soon as LA scored 2nd goal, then 3rd, get within one, building hope/momentum, goalie coughs up "softy"...game/
Pure momentum killing machine. No wonder Chicago got rid of him. I believe the highly skillfull forwards and defense for SJ have no actual faith in Nemo so they press and lose.
Bummer

LMAO so true, this was one of the worst moves he has made. We already lacked speed and grit on this team and traded one of two forwards who actually had both, plus two of our very limited decent prospects for two guys who have done basically nothing or literally nothing.

The only defense ill give DW though is that if todd had truely given mcginn a shot at the 2nd/1st line when havlat was out and he had taken advantage of it like he has in COL there may have been no way he was even considered for a trade. In other words I dont think todd sees talent and ability very well sometimes and misplaces trust in players and lack of it in others.

I dunno, so much is out of whack right now its really hard to pin anything on any one person or player.

Did the highlights show you the 37 other saves Niemi made in this game?

I'm all for getting rid of him and going with a Greiss/UFA platoon for a total of $2mil or less but he's given the Sharks better results than Nabokov ever did after the lockout.
