Leafs have not been Cup contenders since the lock-out.

As for this year, people were warning that the flaws would be exposed. The structure was not there, the defense was too slow, the forwards too soft and the problems were being wallpapered over with scoring.

People were seeing what they wanted to see.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

Fans like you make me sick. The team isn't all that bad, the team cracked under the pressure. That doesn't make this a bad hockey club just tinkering and better goal tending and we will make 6-8th spot. Upgrade in certain areas like a #1 centre and we can hit 4-6.
We've picked in the top ten each draft under Burke, with it basically guaranteed we will do it again this year. We are not a 6-8 team with a little tinkering. Also where are we getting this #1 C from? It's clear there are minimal in trades and FA because Burke's inability to get one in the past 4 years. Look at a team like Calgary, have a solid core, but have looked for the past 10 years for a #1 C and have only found a couple stop gaps.

Burke's sellin' the sizzle but failing to provide the steak.

Burke signed on in Nov of 08 for 6 years so we're stuck with him till July 1 2014.

We're marginally a better club today than the roster was at Nov 08.
We're a younger club, and we may have some potential players in the AHL.

However, during Burke's reign:
No playoffs, No #1 goalie, No #1 d-man, and No #1 centre.
No franchise player(s), but 1 very speedy scorer in Phil Kessel, who is surrounded and supported by a bunch of grunts.

There's "questionable" leadership within the roster; we don't see it on the ice, or on the bench, and we don't hear about it from the dressing room.

Few players have playoff experience. Overall the team plays inconsistent and soft.

Burke continues to make excuses for the team's short comings.
And he continues to serve up the kool-aid.

The current roster isn't fooling anyone, it's loaded with warts; no way we're 3 or 4 players away from being a good NHL club.

I don't think that any player is untouchable or untradeable.

Since last season Bryan Murray made 10 changes to the Senators roster. And Dale Talon made 14 changes to the Panthers roster, same time frame. Both clubs are currently in the playoff picture so the future looks brighter. Quick turnaround was successful, the slide was halted.

I'd like to see Burke step aside and concentrate on being the club's president. Nonis can continue to be his bum boy.
Dudley can take-over as GM, he can clean up the mess that JFJ started and Burke & Nonis continued.

It'll be interesting to see how Cope and Mohamed handle Burke when the sale is finalized this summer. Will they make Burke accountable or will they continue to give him a free pass.
