This might also be a good sign for a guy like Kirill Petrov...if he were to come over and be worried about the language barrier. It's also good for the Isles image. And it gives us at least some hope next season. And it gives us some "hope" that the Isles are serious about taking Rick out of the picture.

Definitely the best news we've gotten in a while.

My guess is the Islanders will try trade one of the 3 goalies. If they try trade one of them as part of a bigger package for a top line player it will be one of the other 2 guys, if they can't trade either that way my guess Mikko gets traded for a 5th rounder.

Funny to compare our reactions now to when he refused to sign after being claimed last year... lol

Some maybe need to remember that when crapping on some of our young players.

Very good news. Believe it or not, I would have been more shocked at this point if this didn't happen. (You may as well believe that. My posting history actually shows that I thought he'd stay.)

I'd like to see us retain Montoya for a year, as well. Go to war with DiPietro as a 3rd goalie. If we have to, he can be the 3rd goalie in the AHL. A high level of play in whichever league should be the only thing that forces Rick into goal.

Let our young goalie prospects get overripe and serve as depth for next season. If their play literally forces our hand, then we can move a goalie when necessary.

,
Mitch

Good news.
Now if only Snow can convince Parenteau to re-sign.

Really? Link? So that's like 100 bucks for a Nabby jersey?

Wow. I have to admit it. I was completely wrong. I thought there was no chance Nabby would re-sign with us. What a great surprise. Now we NEED to update the defense big time and hopefully sign a solid guy on offense

Very happy with the news and a bit surprised that it was only for 1 year. To me, that's even better than giving him that 2nd year we all figured he wanted. Great signing considering the entire situation.

Great news. Gives us a real solid #1 while not having to rush kids like Poulin and Nilsson. Let those two split time in Bridgeport while Montoya backs up Nabby...and just shoot DP already.

This.

I have to admit, I didn't think he'd resign, and was disappointed Snow didn't trade him last month. I'm glad I was wrong.

Great news. Didn't expect him to re-sign this early.

The Isles just signed, and assigned the goalie from my alma mata to Bridgeport. Lots of goalie depth which you can never have enough of.

Is Snow still an idiot for not trading him?

Hopefully Parenteau is next.

He's actually there on an ATO. Steve Valliquette probably put a good word in for Clarke to Brent Thompson, Valliquette worked part-time as a goalie coach for QU.

This would suggest there was zero interest in Nabokov at the deadline, or why not go to free agency for a longer contract? Said this would be the easy signing and it is a good deal for the Isles.

Does this mean Rick is gone? I have heard the owners won't get one buyout like the last cba provided for.

This probably means Monty is gone.

We still need a defense or this is meaningless in the long run.

Unless the cap goes down a significant amount I would be annoyed if they give teams amnesty for mistakes they made. Let's be honest with ourselves the Islanders won't take advantage of that deal.
