Very happy about this move. At least the goaltending going into next season wont be a huge question mark like previous seasons.

Ughh, horrible! Nabakov is a cancer in the locker room and on his last legs. What a waste!

JK!!! Solid signing at a decent contract. Nice to have someone I consider "stable" back there.

Ding Dong the Rick is Dead:

But Snow's goal is to have Nabokov teamed with either Anders Nilsson or Kevin Poulin (or a mix of the two as call-ups from Bridgeport) to give the Islanders some stability in net.
His 2.56 goals-against average and .912 save percentage are the best numbers for an Isles' No. 1 goaltender since Rick DiPietro's last full season, in 2006-07

And for the next news, RDP will be replacing Butch Goring as MSG Islanders color man.

I've said it before, Islanders and Staple have been so quiet on DP. Last time Staple mentioned DP was when he got injured and even then asked if he was going to retire. Islanders have given almost no information on his surgery, rehab and timetable. The only mention was when the teams took pictures.

The.....[blank] thing is, he would instantly be better in every aspect besides being a stanley cup winner.

i'm happy. this is, strangely, progress. a 37 year old netminder signed, sealed and delivered for next season is fine by me, especially because it means that one of our young guns will get some time to grow with a pro.

and now we can close the DP chapter. i hope that becomes official on july 1. nothing against the man personally (every last poster on here would've signed a 15 year NHL contract) but he is PUP (borrowing from the nfl).

it wouldnt be official july 1st -- it will be when the cba is ironed out.. then dp will be taken off the picture... UFA period will open july 1st, but the hopeful 1 time free buyout would be under the new cba in september...

So happy about this. now get PAP locked up and bring in Parise, a top 4 defenseman, and let Donovan and Nino play!

Hey! Don't worry, I'll hire some folks from here to take away the key points of my ramblings before I get in front of a microphone.

All kidding aside, I'd only tell the media what our fans really needed to know and hear. Anything beyond the obvious, I don't want the other GMs knowing until I'm using it against them or hiding it from them in negotiations (and they find out after the fact from their own observations.)

Mitch

^^^I would be excited about this line up^^^
I think Bailey/Ullstrom have shown alot of promise, especially recently. For me the Jury is still out on Grabner/Okposo... I have a bit more confidence in Grabner.
I think for this off season, when the Isles are thinking about needing veteran leadership, I think they need to count Moulson/Parenteau/Streit as vets.

Yes we have a long way before we get into the playoffs.

So let me get this straight, we have a pending UFA looking for a big payday in PAP penciled in for next season, but not Bailey who is signed for one more year and is then still a RFA after that contract expires? I would think it should be the other way around...

I would never want okposo on the 1st line unless he drastically changes and id rather have ullstrom on the 2nd over okposo as well. Love ullstroms game
