JGL scores the series clincher for Rimouski with 27 seconds left in the third, Nics sweep out Henley and the Drillers 4-0.
Catenacci and the Attack survive another day and force Game 5 with a 6-5 OTW against Kitchener.
He had 1+1.
The other guy named Catenacci from the Rangers who scored four points is not his brother, btw.

Is Cat a sure fire bet to return to juniors? What's the deal there?

Do you mean next season?
If so, yes, he has to return to junior because of the CHL/NHL agreement.
That is, unless the CHL/NHL agreement is changed in some way.
I'm not sure when or if it will be renegotiated since it's private, but perhaps it will be this summer with the new CBA (not to imply that it's part of the CBA, but the CHL agreement is dependent on certain aspects of the CBA).

I don't know if it does change, but they would either have to lower the age/experience threshold or add an exception that would allow teams to select players to play in the AHL for him to be eligible next season.
I don't really have a problem with it, but others do.
My stance is don't mess with the best development league in the world that feeds you all of your stars.

4G 4A in 4 games for JGL. Unreal. Of the top 20 scorers in the QMJHL (in the playoffs, JGL has the most points for a D-man and one of only 3 D-man in the top 20. Pretty impressive for the kid.
Sundher had a secondary assist on Brandon's opening goal, as the Wheat Kings eliminated the Calgary Hitmen in five games with a 3-2 OT win.
Pysyk's Edmonton Oil Kings completed the sweep of Lieuwen and the Kootenay Ice, winning game four by a 3-1 margin. Lieuwen had 24 saves, while Pysyk added a goal. Both GA (+1 ENG) for Lieuwen were of the weak or fluky variety.

At Cranbrook, B.C., the Oil Kings opened the scoring early in the first period on a power play. Pysyk's point shot was stopped by Lieuwen, but the puck went high in the air and landed near the goal-line before being pushed into the net by the goalie's pad.
But Edmonton native Rhett Rachinski got it back on a cheesy goal which went off a couple of bodies and went into the books as unassisted and then put it away with an empty net goal.

I'm pretty excited for the kid, but I can't help but think of this guy with the following QMJHL stats....

Looks like he's poised for a tear like he had for the first 1/3rd of the season.

Daniel Catenacci sees his season come to an end as Owen Sound loses to Kitchener. The 2011 3rd rounder went 1+3 in five playoff games.

2nd round of CHL playoffs begin tmrw: RIM (Leduc) vs BLB, NIA (Shipley) vs BRA, BAR (Sutch/Lepkowski) vs OTT, EDM (Pysyk) vs BDN (Sundher)
Shipley's helmet, among other equipment, was stolen yesterday:

Niagara Regional Police say they're investigating after hockey equipment was found missing from the Niagara IceDogs dressing room on the day of a big playoff game.
Police confirmed there's an investigation ongoing after equipment vanished from the Dogs' dressing room overnight. They said that included goaltender Mark Visentin's pads as well as some other hockey equipment.
The investigation has been ongoing since about 10 a.m.
"Visentin's pads. Unbelievable," said IceDogs owner Bill Burke. "And the sticks. These players, their sticks are their superstitions.
"Having a distraction like this is just a real drag."
Burke said the missing gear, beyond the pads, included a couple dozen sticks, captain Andrew Agozzino's helmet and elbow pads and forward Steven Shipley's helmet.
He said the gear would've had to have gone missing between yesterday's practice and today. It was discovered gone as the players filed in for their morning skate.
Edmonton (Pysyk) advances in the WHL playoffs, eliminating Brandon (Sundher) on Wednesday night:

You really have to wonder: how good are these guys?
Perhaps the tell tale was in the first period Wednesday night when stay-at-home-defenceman Mark Pysyk scooped the puck up around centre ice, while killing a penalty, zoomed down the ice and roofed one against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Surely, it will be one of the stories making its way around the Edmonton Oil Kings bus on the way back home.
Pysyk’s short-handed marker was part of the high-will get on their bus tonight and head back to Edmonton after their 6-0 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings.
It’s the second playoff series they have swept their opponent.

I think the NHL should introduce an exemption rule. The NHL Team should be able to exempt one player from the rule every year or every other year. Some guys are wasting away in the CHL like Kassian did and Pysyk this year. I 100% believe the extra year in the CHL as apposed to playing in the AHL hurt there development especially Kassian.

Neither dominated their respective leagues so I don't think they were hurt by being sent back at all.
The CHL is the best development league in the world and unless a player shows that they are clearly too good for it (like if they're able to put up 100+ points at 17/18), they should stay there.

Jerome Gauthier-Leduc scored on the power play with less than a minute left in the third period as the Rimouski Oceanic edged the Halifax Mooseheads 5-4 on Saturday in the semifinals of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs.
The win gives the Oceanic a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 3 is in Rimouski, Que., on Tuesday.
I have to give the Océanic credit, they've done much better than I expected them to at the beginning of the season and have seemed to get better as the year has went on.
I've said it already but I really want them to bring Alexandre Mallet and Peter Trainor to Dev Camp if they don't get nabbed in the draft.
Mallet is a late bloomer and does a lot well and I have a soft spot for Trainor.

This is Mallet's first year in the top-6, right? Hence, the numbers bump. He reminded me of Steve Downie a bit in my limited viewings with fights, screens and scoring. Idk much about Trainor. (Edit: Haha THW answers that and seems to agree.)
Another invite I wouldn't mind seeing is the diminuitive Justin Feser of the Tri-City Americans (still draft eligible as well).
JGL had one goal last night in a 9-0 win, as Rimouski now look to advance to the QMJHL finals with a win on Sunday in Game 6. Pysyk's EOK advanced to the WHL finals where they'll play Portland, while Shipley's IceDogs advanced to the OHL finals where they'll faceoff against London.
Man, JGL can sling it around on the PP. He will definitely need a year in Rochester to work on his d-zone awareness (lacking), but I look forward to him running our PP.
