Luke Schenn tries to stay positive

Decent interview with Schenn. Have to read between the lines a bit but fairly non-clichéd as interviews with players go:

Schenn re: Wilson:

“I don’t want to get too involved or throw anyone under the bus, but you know at times ... there’s not always communication,” Schenn said, speaking of his coach of nearly four seasons. “Every coach has got their different personality, whether it’s pulling a guy aside. There’s definitely a time and a place where a guy needs to be ripped on a little bit and, you know, be told to wake up. ... (But) you’ve got to know your players and handle your players differently, I think.”

I was going to post this article.

This kid spews leadership and captain material, more than our current leader.

If Schenner can get back to basics over the summer and simplify his game next season, he could thrive while serving as an excellent spokesman for the team.

If/when Dion leaves, IMHO Schenner will be the leader this team needs (eventually).

People on this board and Leafs nation in general were far too eager to throw him under the bus. He needs time but I remain confident that he'll be a very good player in this league for a long time. Glad to see him keeping a perspective on things, especially the bit about how he wants to be in the playoffs and doesn't like that his brother is going to be playing in them in his rookie year . Good stuff.

He will bounce back next season. Only way I consider moving him is if a team that picks in the top 6 will trade that pick for Schenn+ and if we win the lottery and draft Yakupov and Galchenyuk.

So probably a good thing we didn't move Schenn, Kadri and our first at the deadline for Nash or Carter

I found this part really interesting:

Schenn is too classy to ever say anything bad, but the way he started off that sentence, you can tell things weren't too good with him and Ron

Schenn definitely has a great personality and good for interviews. If he can just get his game back together for next season there really wouldn't be anything to complain about at all. Do need some guys like him that can speak for the team.

I'm getting pretty tired of his inconsistency. He looks great for stretches like the end of last year and this year he is slow and watches the puck too much.

It would be a HUGE mistake for the Leafs to move Schenn. Defensive defensemen take longer to develop, and tend to have a very bumpy road en route to becoming a true shutdown guy. Kid's got the right attitude, the right skills, and room to grow. In a few years, he's going to be exactly what Toronto needs in the top 4, and he'll be a home grown talent to boot.

Luke Schenn is going to have such a fantastic season next year. He'll be the Leafs best D-man.

New coach, new doghouse. Carlyle said he has given Schenn a list of areas in which he needs to improve. His first pass to a forward needs to be better. Ditto his practice habits. He also needs to bang more bodies, have “more of a snarly attitude.”
This x100. I want to see Schenn destroy people. He's too nice.
