Lehner rises to the occasion to beat his old rival Poulin.

1 game means nothing and Bishop is by far in a better position right now. Lehner wouldn't hold NJ to 1 goal I can tell you that.

I agree Bishop is our guy, but Lehner did shutout a much more potent offense.

Fight? DZ pounded the ever loving piss out of him. DZ threw a clean check and a Bridgeport player, Landry, took objection. I think he realized after the fourth solid blow to the head he might have made a mistake challenging DZ.

Bishop: 7 GP - .925 SV % - 1.95 GAA
Lehner: 5 GP - .935 SV% - 2.01 GAA

Both goalies have shown some promising potential.

Your hatred towards Lehner is ridiculous. No he woudn't be able to hold NJ to one goal, but he was able to shut out the defending Stanley Cup champs....

It's a pity our offence and defence can't both play well at the same time.

Oh I understand, I meant he is our guy for this year, I still think Lehner is our starter in 2-3 years.

Well according to NHL 12, Lehner becomes a beast and Bishop doesn't, so...

Sick, thanks for the recap. It is nice to hear that Dizzy is improving in his fighting ability. When he started in Bingo, he tried but wasn't all that capable. Now it appears as he is getting a lot more comfortable with the technical side of fighting. It is great considering that he appears to be improving in all facets of the game.

Bishop has number 1 starting potential no doubt. Lehner has higher potential though. Bottom line? Our goaltending is gonna be spectacular in the future(fingers crossed) and we could use one for acquiring a star player.

wrong! Lehner is a better goalie than Bishop, plus he is a AHL champ. Bishop is more seasoned but imo not better...

I think I've said this a few times now and I would appreciate it if you would pay attention this time - I don't have any "hatred" toward Lehner and wherever he goes or whatever he does I wish him the best. I just don't think he's a #1 goalie and I think a lot of you are handing him the #1 job without him actually earning it. He hasn't played well enough in Binghamton to show that he deserves to be playing in Ottawa. If he starts to be a little more consistent in Bingo then I'll feel comfortable with him between the pipes in Ottawa. Bishop has had three consecutive winning seasons in Peoria and was highly coveted at the trade deadline. Lehner was 10-8 last season and got blasted in those losses, and then won two 7-game series in OT that could have gone either way.

Now, Bishop has been in the league a while and has seen limited action in 4 season with the Blues...MAYBE that will be Lehner in 2 years, but I'm just not seeing it at this point. He can only hang onto that Calder Cup run for so long before we need to start seeing better consistency. I challenge you to be objective and evaluate him for what he has produced, not what you hope he will produce.

^^good post dude..

This reminds me of the Ray Emery era here in Bingo, so good but not quite there yet..if I remember Razor spent 3-4 seasons in Bingo before the call-up that solidified his career..

Lehner is still 20 yrs old but has matured big time this season, another year in the A is needed to really get him on a consistent tract to be in the N for the future in Ottawa..

Some of you should be a little less sensitive when fans are giving out opinions about certain players..less homersome

I posted this in the BSens thread too, because this is way off topic for this thread, but...

It's funny when all of us fans down in Bingo that try to post objectively on these forums have the same opinion of Lehner, but some fans just don't want to accept the reality of the situation.

Lehner has the potential, he's shown flashes, that's it. This organization so desperately wants a star goalie to solidify their team they are blinded. I found it utterly ridiculous how many people came out of the woodwork to blast the Bishop trade. Like having goalie depth and three guys that have the ability and potential to be NHL-caliber goaltenders is a bad thing.

I'm still a firm believer that winning starts from goal out. Build a strong goal and defensive core and you'll go places. The Bishop trade went miles for making the goal situation 10x better. Now they need to draft one to backfill in a few years when Lehner is ready.

The other focus should be defensive prospects, although some people think we have depth there, I don't see it.
