Shouldn't the Oilers' insurance have covered the cost? After all, it was a person a part of their organization that caused the damage.

Are you a conductor? If so, then driving trains is your job and even reckless or negligent driving would likely be covered by your employer's insurance. Eager's job is to play hockey, not to smash cameras, so to the extent that he breaks cameras he is not operating within his duties as an employee of the Oilers. You think if he went up to the Zamboni during intermission and smashed it to pieces with a wrench that the Oiler's insurance would cover that? No. How is this any different legally?

My job is too operate Mi-Jack cranes in a railyard. If Eager were to do that, the Oilers would likely be well within their rights to terminate Eagers contract or fine him due to some sort of language in his contract.

What they wouldn't be able to do is just say hey you are paying for this.

Covered by insurance or not, if I crush a box it'd be the railroad or the insurance company that would pay out, not me.

That pissant Eager...loved him in a Hawks Jersey...his interview on Cam Jannsen when they played each other was hilarious...

He scored a goal that evening out of the box and some reporter asks him... 'did it feel good beating Jannsen out of the box like that?'

Eager said 'well...hes not hard to beat...but yeah it felt good' LOL

Somebody saying something and having it end that way are two entirely different beasts.
