The Flames should play Irving the rest of the way to see if he truly is NHL-ready. Really, what does the team have to lose?

At least we didn't use TKO? Sutter needs to be off this team now. I hope he is fired after this game. I don't want to see him come back to "coach."

Lets be serious, Iginla as a shooter would have missed. GlenX was invisible all game long. And jokinen may have scored. He risked it in the shootout. This game was lost in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

I'd be more bashing the fact that people complained he went with his good players... I didn't even post in that thread, so I agree.

I'd rather go with guys who at least have a history of doing well. But for christs sake.... that was just painful.

Jones was not hot. Stemp is the only one who should have been out there. Jokinen also should have gone out, because he is our best shooter.

Also, @CGYPUKSUX, no one is good at the skills comp for the Flames. We suck at shootouts. Tangs has been so cold this season.

Tanguay hasn't been great this year but set the record for most SO goals in a year last year.

So in a must score situation we put in Comeau who couldn't score on a soccer net. I was fine with Stajan and Stemniak getting shots but the vets should be shooting 3rd and 4th. Rest the season on the shoulders of a waiver pick up..

When you look back at all the missed chances in the first, this one hurts even more.

Jones was deserving. He was one of the best Flames the whole game. Jokinen stunk on ice and was deserving of sitting on the bench.

So what does it matter who shoots? It really doesn't matter who you toss out there because they all suck at it.

The problem is the team should recognize this and the players should do whatever it takes to win these games in regulation or OT. They should never allow these games to get to the shootout. The players are way too complacent and don't give a rip. There is no emotion and no drive. This is all on the players and the leaders of this team.

I don't give a damn if Jones was deserving. The object of the game is to WIN. Jones is about as useful **** on a boar. You go with the guys who give the best chance to win. Jones is not that guy. Comeau is not that guy. That idiot Sutter should've tried and had Kipper take a shot, because he would've been as ****ing useful as any of the other 4 shooters.

Stajan was the only one I'd put out there. Stempniak, Jones and Comeau?! WTFFFFFFFFF!!!

Tanguay goes out regardless IDGAF.

Sutter just buried himself, mark my words. He gambled, big time, and lost. He's done.

Going out on a limb there, aren't you. Sutter said at the start of the season that he would not be back if the team did not make the post-season. I wouldn't get so excited about Sutter being fired, he's not going to seek another contract with the Flames.

My man reason for wanting Sutter to stick around was that he would support moving the leadership core of the team. A new coach coming in will go off of reputations, be star struck and willing to give the same players yet another chance. As long as the core goes they can bring in whatever coach they want. It won't matter until a couple of key players are removed from the room.

now 5-2, or 3-0-4.

so much for that easy + home-friendly schedule. losses to MIN, CBJ, and EDM. It doesn't get any worse than that, hopefully we don't still play NYI again.

Well I saw intensity on Sutter's face when he was screaming at these idiots for letting the wild back in the game. And Sutter alone cant do it ... Its a team effort..Yes Sutter needs to go..and we need a culture change ..but a coaching change is not enough to motivate this team. The drive to win a championship comes from within you. All coaches do is help bring it out for and right now I dont see anyone(except Kipper) want to win a game let alone be competitive. So maybe we need a new captain on tis team for starters next season. Iginla is Flame and should retire as one, but maybe he should step down and let other yougsters take that responsibility.

And as for shootout specialists tonight...well what can I say other than the fact that the product we put on the ice was terrible but not much worse than the ones sitting on the bench. So why not try something new..let the others know that they gotta show up to earn back there spots.

Apparently Hartsburg had to do the presser as Sutter was to busy screaming at Feaster.

I want it said now, that if we do let Sutter go in the offseason, I pray to ****ing god we don't put Hartsburg as head coach.

I don't really have a problem with the shootout choices. I mean sure, a team should win or a lose on the backs of its best players but the Flames best players did diddly squat all game. This was more or a less a damned if you do and damned if you don't decision for Sutter - If he choose Tanguay, Glencross and Jokinen like he always does and they fail, then everyone complains about him being too stubborn to change things up even when it's obvious it's not working. He gambled and lost but this shouldn't be the straw that broke the camels back.

My only real concern is that the Flames aren't much of a shootout team this season. That much is plain to see for anyone. Yet, it seems as though the Flames are playing an inordinate amount of them what with parity and the teams own offensive woes. Putting those two facts together, you would think Sutter and organization would start putting a much higher emphasis on the shootout, since a couple of points here and there likely mean the difference between a playoff berth and another 10th place finish. However, apparently Sutter doesn't even practice the shootout? It's Keenan and powerplays all over again.

For a franchise that continually states their goal is to too 'only' make the playoffs, they sure are incredibly inept in making it happen.

Screaming at Feaster? Why?

FTR, I had no issue with Stempniak and Stajan getting the call on the shootout. I questioned the selection of Jones, and Comeau being picked made me straight up, Nicholas Cage style, flip ****.

Hartsburg would be a terrible, awful, terrible choice.

Problem is there is some similarity to his position and the way Feaster was hired. D.Sutter chose Feaster as his assistant:B.Sutter chose Hartsburg as his assistant. Both were previously employed as a GM and headcoach respectively. And we know how much the Flames organization values experience . . .
