HAWKS add TERRY BROADHURST

Hawks just signed Nebraska-Omaha NCAA free agent (C) TERRY BROADHURST (5'11 162,or 6'0 170 whichever is the case) who left after his Jr. year finished this season...

He is a local Illinois kid (age 22) and older bro of Hawks draftee ALEX BROADHURST (Green bay,USHL) ....so the Hawks ould have 2 sets of brother acts one day (Hayes bros. and Broadhurst bros) ...

He was added to the active roster so can insert right away...Perhaps they don't think Toews willbe back this season and needed more dephat centre opting to go small amd skilled over perhaps some other clooege FA centre who had size and toughness...

Of course DENIS SAVARD was only 5'10 170 --so you never know...

Stan prefers little guys,I guess...

MEANWHILE all 29 other NHL teams are after BIG 6'8 Nebraska-Omaha D-man ANDREJ SUSTR listed at 220 but probably 10-20 lbs more by now...but he is still deciding whether he will leave school early or stay another year...

So i guess our priorities lean to addin a Savard over signing a Chara...

Who says the Hawks aren't among teams interested in Sustr?

I have played against him. Very good hockey player, but certainly not way better than anyone on the ice.

Slow Down Buddy

Broadhurst great local area guy has a brother. I watched them play at rookie camp. One of them not sure which Broadhurst. I read some article one of the Broadhurst's was named player of the week in his respective league.

Let's not act like these guys are the 2nd coming of A. Shaw and lets not act like these guys are 1st and 2nd round picks like the Hayes brothers.

We should treat the Broadhursts like they are D. Toews and ECHL quality until they are both succeeding in Rockford. Slow the ___ down.

p.s. Nice post and glad that some late draft picks are having better than expected success. Congrats to the Broaghursts!

Three sets of brothers, potentially.

Hayes, Toews, and Broadhurst.

Bowman is still hammering out contract details with Kane's sisters.

Erica Kane is a total Bowman Bargain Basement signing.

I'd 'sign Erica to a contract'.

Sign her so hard she'll be walking bowlegged.

I love how this has quickly gone from a discussion about Terry Broadhurst to potentially signing Erica Kane and all the sex-related things associated with it...

Haha wow. I was really hoping they would give him a shot. I went to high school with him and he was a real cool guy. My best friend still hangs out with him. He was always extremely skilled in hockey and made many people look foolish.

I have one of his games on DVR that I still haven't watched yet, but I did watch him 1 game this year and he scored a goal and was real good. He is still so skinny though although he'd grown a ton since high school.

His facebook is full of "congrats" and it is real cool to see someone I know get signed to a pro team. Another kid in my class got signed as a long snapper but he got cut.

Someone I worked with last year was a goon in the ECHL, that's about as close to hockey greatness I've gotten.

Funny guy though. Hard worker.

Raffi Torres taught me how to skate and how to deliver blindside headshots.

Well, just how to skate. I'd teach Erica how to skate...on my (I can't say that can I)

Congrats to Terry. Maybe we need some more depth for RCK I don't think he'll make that much of an impact, but doesn't hurt to try.

He's not listed on the Hawks active roster on the Hawks website..

Either way, I don't think it's a sign Bowman "prefers little guys".. He's drafted numerous big-bodied players since taking over, aswell as trading for Morin and J.Hayes.

You sign one smaller guy and it means Stan perfers a Savard over a Chara?

My God, that's basically an insane statement.

I know at least one of Kane's sisters is real attractive.

I would not be opposed to seein her around.

And I like how he knows that the Blackhawks aren't in on him because he hasn't signed with us.

Newsflash: He hasn't signed with anyone yet! I guess that means no one is after him according to that idiot logic. It could be entirely possible that Bowman is interested in BOTH players... yeah, I guess that just can't be possible. He should wait to sign Broadhurst so that maybe we can sign Sustr and only then is when we should sign Broadhurst. We aren't at the 50 contract limit so who cares?

Nothing wrong with signing both, god knows Rockford could use the help.

Terry is a solid pickup for the Hawks. a nice depth move that could likely pay some dividends with injuries down the middle.

he isnt going to be an answer to our #2 center problem, but he certainly is a guy I can see stepping up for some tough stretches next year if needed.

he had a great year for Sioux Falls a few seasons back and have skated with him at times at the Edge Ice Arena...his family lives about 2 miles from me. solid kids, I like both brothers in our system. this move is a no lose no brainer. I like when Chicago gets local kids.

So I take it you live in Orland? I grew up in Tinley. Ever skated with TJ Tynan? I'm impressed every time I watch him at Notre Dame.
