Better a guy like Hamilton who wants to be an NHLer than a scrub like Lombardi whose done jack s**t this year and earns himself new life on next years team

This is expected. Guys are worn down near the end of the season. Why play hurt? The the best Marlies players always get rewarded with some games near the end of the season. For Kadri, it's big for next year. For Hamilton, it's maybe giving him a shot with another team on a 1-year contract next year.

Nice to see Kadri and Hamilton get a look. From what I've read Colborne hasn't played well lately(and he's a centre) so I don't mind Hamilton getting the nod instead. D'Amigo or Mueller is a better argument than Colborne right now IMO.

The GM sets the roster for the coaches disposal. This includes the the AHL roster.

Coaches decide which players make their roster, period. Unless the rare occasion occurs when the GM pulls the "I'm your boss do what I say" card and then good luck landing a quality coach.

This is really standard info, I'm kind of shocked to be arguing it tbh

Don't forget the money. Hamilton earns 105k in the minors and 525 here. If he stays up for the remaining 8 games he should earn approx 50k, which is always nice...

Will Hamilton have to go through waivers when he gets sent back to the Marlies?

must have been a based on "emergency call up?"

I thought Leafs only had 1 move left...

Anyway, good to let young kids step in for the final 10 games before heading back for AHL playoffs.

Would love to see Korbinian Holzer get a couple of game also!

Always though Hamilton was on a AHL only contract, good for him though.

I'm not sure but if that was the case I'd think he'd just stay up with the leafs until the end of the season and then go back down for the playoffs. Kadri can do the same as will Gardiner and Frattin. They won't miss the ahl playoffs.

Atleast we will have a captain of a professional hockey team on our roster now.

We had no call-ups left, so these are both on emergency basis I believe.

The marlies season actually ends after the Leafs does - the Marlies last game is April 15th I believe

Gards, Frattin and Ashton will have a few games before the playoffs to adjust back to the AHL style

Doubt it although it hardly matters since he's a UFA.

You gotta be kidding me? You don't actually believe the crap you just spit out do you?
You think the minor league coach sends up who he thinks is best for the big club? LMFAO!

Here is how it works. For whatever the reason, the coach decides if he needs help at a certain position. He then calls Burke to let him know that he is about to put a call into Dallas. He then calls Eakins and TELLS him which player will be called up. Sometimes a Leaf scout may be involved. In this case, Carlyle had a look at the stat sheet with the Marlies and asks for Hamilton. As for Kadri, I am sure he just wants to see what he has first hand.

I would have let Kadri play out the year in the NHL, get a fresh start in training camp next fall. Keep him away from the blight that the year has become. What if he comes up and just proves mediocre again--can't see that helping his confidence or the team's confidence in him.

It's common place for the NHL team to get input from the AHL coach. Eakin's doesn't have final say, but he usually has input in these types of things.

Exactly.

The GM will (hopefully) discuss the matter with his coach, and also with his minor league coach (who's hot recently? who deserves it?).

But it is the GM's decision (if only for cap-related reasons, or who can or can't be exposed to recall waivers, etc).
