I'm over this loss. I don't consider this a loss to be honest. It's a tie in my book.
at home against the crappy Laffs.....this was a loss
it's not our position in the standings that bother me...we're pretty much in 6th period.
But its our play heading into the playoffs.....lame

We went into the playoffs in 2006 on an 11 game winning streak, and get bounced in the 2nd round. We go into the playoffs in 2000 playing piss poor, and we bring home a cup. Just sayin.
What gets me is how many times do we have to lose to a team clearly inferior?
Until this team/org actually grows a set and starts showing killer instinct more often than not, expect more of the same. You would think after last season they wouldn't take anyone likely but nope.
When you lose to the Leafs at home(where you already have problems at) in a game you have to win do you honestly think you deserve to make the playoffs?

Rangers just lost 4-1 to Buffalo.
Panthers lost in a shootout to the Oilers.
Senators just got routed 5-1 by the Habs.
Capitals blew a lead to lose a game in OT... to a team that they could have helped seal off from contention.
An NHL team just let Columbus score 5 goals on them.
The best way I can explain my concern is that I feel like the devils have not been a ***** to defeat lately. If you're gonna get beat, you want the other team to play a solid game to beat you. That was my favorite trait of this team up until recently.
The good thing is that they're creating chances but that extra jam needed to score, or make a strong defensive play, it hasn't been consistent enough.
Just play strong against the pens and all is forgiven
yea seriously i take this as a plus. we gained a point on ottawa. we dominated the game. reimer made some ridiculous saves, we'll be alright people. we all know that the team is gonna step their **** up for the playoffs. we're alright

Really? I mean, I'm not raging about this loss or anything, but it's still kinda pathetic to lose to the Leafs at home when you outshoot them 46-17. Toronto had only won 4 of their last 21 games and been shutout 3 of their last 7 coming into tonight. Doesn't that say something about the Devils to lose to them like this?

there just hasnt been a game lately that I thought......"boy they look good"
I know we cant win them all....but get some consistency going at least.
The leafs are absolute trash. If you take into consideration how piss poor that team has been, nu's game tonight doesn't look all that great. The leafs are pretty awful and that's being nice imho.

I don't understand what people fail to understand about this.
You play well. And then you don't play well. And then you play well again. Over and over and over.
You need to peak at the right time. If you are riding a hot streak going in you might win one round but you'll get blasted in the 2nd round. You need to go in to the playoffs on the cusp of breaking out.
Good things happen when they go to the net.
I liked Parise's game tonight, he really fought hard and came up with a dirty goal to pay it off.
They need lots more of that.
All 3 goals came from someone being parked right in front of the net. Hopefully they learn from this.
Yep. They crashed the net much more in the third, and got better chances. Need to do that more often. Too often the cycle is kept to the outside, and no prime scoring chance results because nobody can take it to the net with a power move.

I like the sound of this, he doesn't seem dead set on the same line combinations anymore.
I liked the look of every line he rolled out there throughout the 3rd.
I'm glad he isn't stubbornly sticking to the same thing, or bingo balling constantly like Lemaire. This is the happy medium on when to change the lines.
Are there seriously people saying that we didn't play well? Really? Outshooting the other team by more than a 2-1 margin is not playing well? Reimer was a beast tonight, while Brodeur wasn't. I don't think we looked bad at all except for the 3rd Leafs goal. If you dominate a team like this, you win 90% of the time. Today was the 10%.
I had to sit in front of a group of guys that did nothing but berate our guys on the ice. "Bernier go back to the AHL", "Zubrus I hope you get waived again", and the best of all, chants of "We Want Hedberg".
There are segments of this fanbase that are downright pathetic. Makes me embarrassed.
