That would be cray. The conspiracy theorists would definitely be coming out of the woodwork haha.

The way In see it is if we can stay at 5th in lottery position then I think that wraps up Galchenyuk at least. Man this is crazy to be talking about. If someone told me we'd have a chance at a lottery pick at the All-Star break I would've called them nuts.

Yeah lol. I really want Galchenyuk. I just hope Burke doesn't take some character kid with limited offensive skill. We need as much high end talent as possible.

Yeah I would've been fine with Gaunce outside of the top seven, but not where we are at right now haha.

Gaunce is more of a 10-15 pick to me. I wouldn't mind him if we were picking there. Top 5 to 7 pick? Got to go with the skilled forwards and high upside D.

Nice to see the Oilers play the Jackets on Sunday. A couple of losses tomorrow and Saturday plus a couple of Oiler wins (Panthers and Jackets) and damn that 2nd pick is right there.

If Toronto wins the lottery, here's a crazy idea.

To the New York Islanders:
2012 2nd round draft pick
2013 2nd round draft pick
Luke Schenn

To Toronto:
2012 1st round draft pick
Rick DiPetro

At the draft:
1. Toronto drafts Nail Yakupov
2. Columbus drafts Mikhail Grigorenko
3. Edmonton drafts Ryan Murray
4. Montreal drafts Filip Forsberg
5. Toronto (VIA NYI) drafts Alexander Galchenyuk

Lupul - Grabovski - Kessel
Kadri - Galchenyuk - Yakupov

Yeah, I'm good with that.

It's doubtful that Galchenyuk will be able to step into the NHL next season. Grigs and Yakupov are the most likely.

If he's on the board you taken Grigorenko and don't look back he's a stud in the making.

This.

I'd say to bring him over right after next season. A lot of dead weight roster spots will be gone. Lombo, Connolly, Armstrong, etc.

Murray is the only dman I'd want to take. If he's gone and Yakupov, Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, Forsberg are all gone as well, I'd rather trade down and grab Faksa, Gaunce.

I wouldn't want him over here asap though, I would let him take his time to develop properly, his two game still needs to improve quite a bit.

Yea, would he be eligible to play in the A after another year in Sweden?

I have no clue how this stuff works lol

Players drafted out of Europe can play in the AHL at the age of 18.

CHL rules (20+ years of age/4 full seasons in the CHL) do not apply.

Guys,

Arriving late to the conversation here, but does anyone have any insight to the differences in talent between Grig, Galchenyuk and Yakupov. From my understanding Yaks is elite talent, super skilled small russian. Backstrom-esque?

I'm pretty familiar with most of the D in the top 10 but I'm lost when people favour Grigorenko over Galchenyuk, or vice versa. Galchenyuk has dropped out of the top-1o now, no?

Yakupov is a very good scorer, he uses a good two game as well, but he is undersized for today's NHL, regardless he will use his body to guard the puck well regardless and is a speed bugger too. He can lay out hits as well, but not as much due to his height restraint.

Grigorenko has been called the malkin clone or light or whatever, he has great skill and physically ready for the NHL, and he has good size to boot, the problem many find with him is his game sometimes fades away, its not for the lack of trying it just seems like the spark disappears. He also needs to work on his two way game.

Galchenyuk is a premier set up man, also known as the next coming of hossa in the center position, he is what you call a work horse while having immense talent. He can it all, from offensive line to the defensive line he will be there to help you out, in the pk or the pp. He is especially good along the boards, so he's a good cycle player. People project him better at the wing rather than the center. The reason scouts still tout him so high regardless of missing an entire year is his off-ice workout and his work-ethic in general, it should be interesting how this effects his draft position, as some expect him to be high as top 5 - top 10, while the latest ISS ranking has him ranked at 16 if i recall correctly.

All three projects to be top liners, while yakupov atm being the surefire one.

Risk you take with Mikhail Grigorenko is that you either end up with a Malkin-lite or a Viktor Kozlov.
