King- times up

Gio TB
All ufa's next greyhound outta town need some up grades here
Cammy keep

This team needs to move some vets and ufa's to change the leadership and culture on this team.

It's not like I disagree about the notion per say, but if you're expecting upgrades via UFA, you're **** outta luck my friend. This UFA crop is garbage outside of a slim few.

Agree with all except Gio. He is the future captain of this team.

I'll play!

King - Stays. The problems are hockey related not business related. King has nothing to do with hockey operations.

Feaster - On the fence. I would expect that he would have to make the deals to take the team apart. He may not want to be associated with that. I'd say it's up to him. If he wants to do the job then he can do it. If not, bring in someone with the balls to get it done.

Sutter - It doesn't matter any more. He won't come back.

Jarome Iginla - Gone.
Olli Jokinen - Gone.
Alex Tanguay - Stays.
Curtis Glencross - Stays.
Jay Bouwmeester - Move if the right deal comes along.
Lee Stempniak - Re-sign at the right price.
Mark Giordano - Stays.
Matt Stajan - Stays.
T.J. Brodie - Stays.
Chris Butler - Stays.
Blake Comeau - Gone.
Scott Hannan - Re-sign at the right price.
Michael Cammalleri - Move if the right deal comes along.
Mikael Backlund - Stays.
Derek Smith Stays.
Tom Kostopoulos - Gone.
Roman Horak - Stays.
David Moss - Gone.
Tim Jackman - Stays.
Cory Sarich - Gone.
Anton Babchuk - Move if the right deal comes along.
Paul Byron - Stays.
Blair Jones - Stays.
Krys Kolanos - Gone.
Miikka Kiprusoff - Move if the right deal comes along.
Henrik Karlsson - Gone.
Raitis Ivanans - Gone.
Joe Piskula - Gone.
Leland Irving - Stays.
Guillaume Desbiens - Gone.
Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond - Gone.

Sven Baertschi - Welcome to the lineup full time.
Lance Bouma - Welcome to the lineup full time.
Greg Nemisz - Welcome to the lineup full time.

Can't really disagree except I think King has more input on the hockey side than you think . King may have to go to move Iggy

I agree with most of this, except for the bolded. This off season is going to be Feaster's first off season where he'll actually have total control of the situation, instead of having a bunch of dud deals on the dole made under Darryl.

I would only move Iginla if he requested it. He has done so much for this team that he deserves to choose his own fate with this team. I think most Flames fans can agree with that. Joker, I'm on the fence about... I bold it because I don't necessarily want him to go, because he's proven to be a solid player for us... With that said, though, we have a lot of guys at center... Stajan, Backlund, Horak, Jones, Bouma, potentially Byron? That is brutal. I'd rather keep him and potentially use him for trade bait in the future, but it all depends on what kind of contract he would be signed to.

As for Cammy...He's got a year left on his deal, I'd keep him around until at least the 2013 Trade Deadline, and then reevaluate the options of keeping/trading him.

This is a good list to work from, so my changes...

Feaster - Every GM who walks into a mess should be given at least 3 full seasons to fix things. He needs more time.

Sutter - It doesn't matter any more. He won't come back. (I think you're right)

Jarome Iginla - Move him if he is willing. Must command a great return.
Olli Jokinen - re-sign as getting nothing for him would be wrong. He holds good value right now. I'd bank that he keeps up his good play, and it would be worth the risk on a short term deal. If he wants to much term then let him walk.
Alex Tanguay - Stays.

Lee Stempniak - Re-sign at the right price.
Mark Giordano - Stays.

Blake Comeau - if he will sign for under a million and play 4th line then re-sign
Scott Hannan - Re-sign at the right price.
Michael Cammalleri - Move if the right deal comes along.
Mikael Backlund - Stays.
Derek Smith Stays.

I'm not a huge joker fan, but we have no other options and he has proven to be a good player for us, I'd be surprised if gio was trade bait,

Here's my list of players that need to go and potential replacements:

Comeau, gone nemisz replace

Tko gone bouma replace

Sarich gone Brodie/ free agent replace, grossman, carle, wideman, oduya, Carlo coliacovo, zanon etc

Hannan- Brodie / free agents above

Moss- beartschi/ free agent tootoo perhaps others,

Other players:

Anton- don't think we have a chance to get rid of him but would like to see him gone,

Karlsson: Irving is ready,

Stajan: same deal I doubt a transaction can be made,

I believe the players I didn't mention: I.e kipper iggy bouw tanguay cammy will all be flames next year, a full retool would be nice but I don't see it happening yet

Everyone on contract and over the age of 30 who's not named Alex should be trade bait (dependent on return). If he has any value, Cammalleri should be trade bait as well.

Keep:
Backlund
Brodie
Comeau
Jokinen (should've traded him at the deadline, but it's too late for that now)
Glencross
Jones
Horak
Moss
Stempniak
Tanguay
Giordano
Bouwmeester
Butler
Smith
any NHL player under contract under the age of 25 I might've missed

Move or let go everyone else on the big club.

Who the hell is going to lead your team? That would be a horrible idea to move everyone 30 and over.

How about this idea... trade Kipper to a team willing to overpay due to a tremendous post-season goaltending collapse.

Run with 3 goalies next year (Irving, Ramo, HK). Make them fight for playing time all season or until one of them should quite obviously be sent to the AHL.

Thoughts? It's just an idea.

Unfortunately this team will slightly retool in the offseason and keep the same core, likely resulting in same ******** ending as this season.

Never know maybe that is Feaster's long term plan. Stay somewhat competitive for that playoff spot for the next few years to transition into a rebuild rather then blowing it completely up. If we keep our picks we could have a pretty good future in the next couple of years without having to trade all the players that hold value.

King - No idea honestly. I don't know enough about what King does to make a judgement call on this.

Feaster - Keep him. Let him finish what he started.

Sutter - Contract is up, so set him free.

Jarome Iginla - Up to him. Probably the only player I would say can choose his own fate. He deserves as much.
Olli Jokinen - Peace out
Alex Tanguay - Keep (though if someone came along as threw us a killer deal, I'd move him)
Curtis Glencross - Keep
Jay Bouwmeester - Move for the right price
Lee Stempniak - Peace out
Mark Giordano - Keep
Matt Stajan - Bleh, keep, I guess. Move if you can.
T.J. Brodie - KEEP
Chris Butler - Keep
Blake Comeau - Get out
Scott Hannan - Re-sign at the right price
Michael Cammalleri - I have no problem keeping Cammy, but like Tanguay, if the right deal came along, I'd do it.
Mikael Backlund - Keep
Derek Smith Keep
Tom Kostopoulos - Get out
Roman Horak - Keep
David Moss - Keep for the right price
Tim Jackman - Keep
Cory Sarich - Peace out
Anton Babchuk - Bleh, keep, I guess. Move if you can.

I did mention keeping Tanguay and resigning Jokinen (although he doesn't strike me as the leading type). Either way, the guys like Giordano, Stempniak, and Bouwmeester have been around long enough to maintain stability. Don't forget, you can also pick up other, cheaper vets as UFAs. I'm just advocating an openness to obtaining long-term value for the Flames' short term assets.

That would be ideal to me, although I don't think Karlsson is necessary as anything more than an AHL injury call-up. Irving has looked clearly better so far, and Ramo will be as well, if he is as advertised.

Guys... I'm fairly sure Ramo's contract doesn't run up in the KHL until the end of next season. He already said on Twitter that he is going to remain with his KHL team and honour his contract, then he'll come over to Calgary.

I disagree. Iginla is no different than any other player, other than he scored a load of the Flames. He's been paid handsomely for his years of service and he is not a long term solution for the team moving forward. I look at the Iginla situation like three other iconic captains for their respective organizations; Steve Yzerman, Matts Sundin and Mike Modano. Each of these guys were core players to their respective organizations, but each took a different path to their final days with the team, impacting the long term recovery of the team during the transition period after their departure.

Steve Yzerman was Mr. Redwing. A lot of people compare the Iginla situation to that of Yzerman. I don't see it that way. Yzerman recognized his game was declining and made the effort to become one of the best two way centers in the league and extremely defensive aware. Iginla has gone the other way. He started out as a great two way player but has changed to a strictly one way player as his physical capabilities fail. He's horrible defensively and is no where near as dominating offensively as he needs to be to be a one way player. Yzerman accepted whatever role he was given and did what it took to win. Iginla hasn't been willing to adapt. I just don't see any comparison to the Yzerman situation.

Mats Sundin was the only thing the Leafs had going for them. They knew their team was failing and wanted to move him for some type of return, but left the decision up to Sundin. Mats decided he would stick it out with the Leafs until his contract expired. To add insult to injury, the captain for the Leafs decided to take his game elsewhere before retiring, leaving the Leafs high and dry with nothing to show for the years of investment in the player. The Leafs are still trying to recover from Sundin's departure four years ago. The Iginla situation has some similarities to the Sundin situation in Toronto.

Mike Modano was Mr. (North) Star. There are similarities to the Sundin situation here. Modano elected to hold on and stick with the team until his contract was up. The difference is the Stars had made the decision to jettison Modano and move forward without him. They took a hit by getting nothing back for him, but they had planned well leading up to that moment. They recognized Modano's failings and moved on, knowing the team would never be able to develop a new culture and leadership with Modano in the clubhouse. There also some similarities to the Iginla situation.

I think the Flames really need to move Iginla. It's no longer just something to consider, I think it needs to be done. The Flames will never develop a new leadership group or identity as long as Iginla is in the dressing room. They need to think of the future. They need to think of the transition to a new leadership group. The pragmatic thing to do is to move Iginla before it ends up in a Sundin situation. Trade him, give him a contract elsewhere to chase the cup, then bring him back to retire a Flame. Make everyone happy.

King - Can't say.

Feaster - Next year is when he can really be judged.

Sutter - We need fresh blood.

Jarome Iginla - All for moving him if somebody will pay well for it, and Iggy's going to have a serious chance for the cup.
Olli Jokinen - Short term deal, stay.
Alex Tanguay - Stays.
Curtis Glencross - Stays.
Jay Bouwmeester - Move if the right deal comes along. Though I don't know what
Lee Stempniak - Rather not keep. Wouldn't hate it if he stayed.
Mark Giordano - Stays.
Matt Stajan - Stays.
T.J. Brodie - Stays.
Chris Butler - Stays.
Blake Comeau - 4th line 1M/1yr or gone.
Scott Hannan - Re-sign at the right price.
Michael Cammalleri - Move if the right deal comes along.
Mikael Backlund - Stays.
Derek Smith Stays.
Tom Kostopoulos - Wouldn't mind keeping if we don't get Comeau.
