Former 2nd overall NFL draft pick (and super-bust) Ryan Leaf was arrested today on charges of armed robbery and drug possession.

5 of 6 winning tix sold in: SF, San Jose, Sunnyvale, San Rafael & Fremont. We are all over it beginning at 10pm on CW and CBS 5 at 11pm.

That may just be the California-winning tickets.

California Lottery ‏ @calottery
OK, here are early results. No jackpot winners in California, BUT 29 tickets matched 5 numbers!!! Check your tickets!!! #MEGAMillions

If that is you winning:

1. Sign Ticket. Take of photo of your DL and the ticket together. Secure ticket.
2. Hire estate lawyer.
3. Set up a trust; claim via trust. No one needs to know you won.
4. Buy Sharks
5. Trade Marleau
6. Sell Sharks

At least one winning ticket.

So, the jackpot will probably be in the tens of millions for Tuesday, I'd guess.

Just saw Battle Royale. Holy moly what a cracking movie Behind all the deaths and gore was actually a pretty good story and I'll be looking to pick up the book for sure when I have time to read it. Utsumi (Girl #2) was the prettiest in my opinion.

I watched "Goon" yesterday and I gotta say ... not freakin' bad! I recommend it if you're looking for something to do.

calottery: 3 tickets sold in Maryland, Illinois & Kansas will split the #MEGAMillions jackpot. 29 tix in CA matched 5 #'s and are each worth $227,955.

So I would recommend NOT boycotting Hunger Games, as the title of this thread suggests. Pretty rad flick.

Agreed, my wife and I saw it earlier today. It was pretty good.

I would like to catch Battle Royale though now that everyone is talking about it.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT watch the dubbed version (if there is one). In fact, never ever watch a dubbed version of a movie.

Nah a lot of anime is rather decently dubbed plus I'm an audio person and I don't want to learn a whole new language.

I find that it's different watching dubbed anime vs live action. It's easier to fudge the lack of matching lip movements in anime because there aren't as many variations of the mouth flaps. So all you have to do is match the syllables and it looks fine. But with live action it's jsut far too disconcerting. Even for something as corny as godzilla movies I detest the movies that are dub-only because it really adds to the cheese (and not in a good way). And there are some outstanding english dubs too. If I'm not mistaken, Shirow Masamune, creator of Ghost in the Shell, has actually said he enjoys the english voice if the Major as much if not more than her Japanese voice.

I don't think there's a dub of Battle Royale anyway since AFAIK it was never released officially in the west.

I don't ever recall a dubbed version of BR.

Just avoid BRII, it blows chunks when compared to the original.

Fan-done anime dubbing is superior to the manufactuers IMO. I say that cause they sometimes gets fancy with the text and sometimes goes out of their way to educate you in the process when theres certain words that doesn't have a decent direct translation.

On the flip side of the coin, never watch a german dubbed/subbed movie unless you want to turn a drama into a comedy. The voices never match the text

Mod note: just a reminder - April Fool jokes are not condoned on HF. Minimum, you'll have some angry mods. Could result in infractions, etc.

There aren't a lot Production Company's that do it well anymore, VIZ is terrible at it as I've noticed by re-watching Naruto over the past few months. But Funimation is rather good at it. When its off its really hard to watch. I wasn't saying Dub > Sub as a blanket generalization but a lot of it is done well and I'd prefer to listen to things in English.

I've never watched a live action movie in DUB that would drive me insane, like those old godzilla movie dubs probably gave me mini aneurysm's.
