I still think will go far (nowhere near one and done lmao), but this fascination Torts has with Mitchell has got to end right now..

Not saying the Vezina helps us right now, just saying that as a whole he has been exceptional this season. He usually takes the month off in December, unfortunately this time its March when Crosby came back. I of course don't mean he is deliberately taking periods of time off from working hard, he is simply human. That's something you often have to be reminded of when you have the best goalie in the world.

If we have to face the Flyers, so be it. We'd be better off against them than Washington anyway.

No. There's a great chance we lose because boneheaded Gaborik ****ing missed before that and that's likely the best chance we'd get. As I said 2-1 game or 10-0 game, goals like that should not happen. There's no excuse for that ********. He's supposed to be the best goalie in the league. That kind of display makes me question how good the goalies in the league are if the best gives up that trash.

The Rangers blew it. Their longest homestand in like 10 years and lose to Colorado when outshooting them by 20 and lose to a fringe playoff team where we get dominated after the first 10 minutes. Not only could they not win on the road when they were there (4 straight losses) they can't win at home. Maybe they can win it in space.

At the end of the day, W's are all that matter. No, a goalie shouldn't let in a softie but they occur.

In a 4-3 game, goalie and/or defense should go under the microscope.

In a game like today, the defense and goalie are off the hook (Kicked in goal, giveaway that leads to a 3-on-1) and an offense to blame that take measly shots and or the pass themselves into oblivion.

There were 3 goals scored on odd man rushes and 1 that but for a miraculous save would have been and another one (at least one) where they just shot it over the net. The defense was atrocious. Lundqvist was great in the first two periods but was garbage in the 3rd. Much like if the defense holds them to 2, we still lose with this output, if we score 3 (a good number for us) we still lose because of the D and goaltending. So yesm you can blame the goaltending and defense when you give up and play like ****.

That fourth goal was a result of the Rangers trying to chip in more offensively to try to salvage the game, and we don't know if the Sabres would have scored that third or fourth goal had the Rangers managed to get that tying goal.

And even if Lundqvist did play lights-out, you're still left with the Sabres being up 2-1.

So that 4th goal doesn't happen if Lundqvist doesn't give up that third, because you don't have to push like mad men when you're only down 1. I can play that game too. I have to see that Gaborik play again, I don't know how he missed it.

This season is starting to remind me more and more of 05-06. Lose the division late in the year and lose a major award late in the season (Vezina this year and Richard, Art Ross, and Hart for Jagr in 06). Great season where we looked like champs, ends when we look like chumps.

Quit it with the bickering already. No, it's not Lundqvist fault that 3 odd man rushes were all goals and the 1st goal was Mitchell's dumb **** self kicking it into the net.

BUT (and here's where the Lundqvist praisers must think clearly), would Lundqvist have made those saves (or most of them) when he was playing much better and basically unstoppable earlier in the year?

The answer is yes. Lundqvist is in a slump. The team is as well. But so is he. Can't argue against that right now.

If the Pens weren't close to us in the standings then most people here would be a lot more calmer with things I'm sure.

And regarding Mitchell, I haven't had so much disdain for a player this much since Marek Malik.

There's no excuse for this type of slump for Lundqvist. He should have had a shutout in the last two games and allowed 2 goals today. The record would have stayed the same, but at least we'd have the Vezina to look forward to.

I don't think Malik has ever had a game this bad.

Hank is still the favorite for the Vezina, Quick is definitely #2 though.

The stats are getting very close. Quick is playing his best when it matters most, Hank is sieve when it matters most. If I'm a voter I think long and hard about giving it to Quick. Plus it doesn't hurt that Quick is North American.

Quick is literally right behind Lundqvist so much that's he's rubbing up against him like an annoying blabbermouth in line at the DMV.

Whats worse: Quick is actually playing good and has won 4 of his last 5 games while Lundqvist is playing worse and has lost 4 of his last 7. Vezina is slipping away.

That actually makes me feel better. Think of how far we've come since the days of Marek Malik and Tom Poti.

This game was Ozolinsh-quality bad. On a side note, Staal's ill-advised pinch at 2-1 would have made Sandis proud.

They got to #1 by playing hard and not making mistakes. Now they're not playing hard and they're making a ton of mistakes. That's fatigue IMO.

The Rangers goalie has been a sieve meanwhile Philly's goalie has been dominant. Did we make a trade deadline deal of Lundqvist for Bryzgalov that I'm unaware of?

We get it. Hank is in a slump. He'll get out of it. Meanwhile, Bryz was horrible the first 60 games of the season, and has been good for 12. Yep. Big sample size there.
