As for the Minnesota high school kids, I think there's several who would be good mid-late round fliers. But I I think I'd be concerned about using, say, the Wild's third round pick (and up) on most any of them.

Does that move around year to year? When I played we went to Chicago.

Not that I'm aware of, I thought The Great 8 has always been a Wakota.

Also, considering the so-called "lack of value" from the mid-rounds on, you might see more MNHS kids picked than originally thought- since every team might be taking fliers.

We played at Wakota but then a team was picked and went to Chicago to play other states and what not.

Minnesota should get a WHL team, it would be nice to see how these kids do playing there.
I would LOVE to have a CHL team play in the cities ....be great fun to watch some of these future stars.

I'd prefer an OHL team.

i think besse goes before kloos. besse in 3rd or 4th and kloos i bet like 4th or 5th

Draft Position Elimination Number

14th - Eliminated
13th - Eliminated
12th - Eliminated
11th - Eliminated
10th - 3 points
9th - 5 points
8th - 6 points
7th - 7 points
6th - 7 points
5th - 7 points
4th - Current
3rd - 4 points
2nd - 4 points
1st - Eliminated

This works somewhat like the elimination number (and magic number) method from other places. For positions "higher" than our current position (i.e. 2nd) it shows the number of points we can earn before being eliminated from possibility for that draft spot. That is to say, if we earn 4 more points this season, it becomes impossible to finish with the 3rd overall pick. For positions lower than our current spot, it lists how many points we can lose before being locked out of a position. For example, if we lose 3 more points (say, lose tonight and have an OT loss in the next game) we'll no longer be able to finish with the 10th pick. This will continuously shift based upon how both the Wild and other teams do. I've replaced Jarick's chart in the OP with this one.

This is a handy dandy chart to have.

Heard last night that Shattuck was in the AAA Midget Championship in Buffalo, NY. Sounds like Zach Stephan and Ted Bluger (i was told both are draft eligable) were the standouts and real nice players for Shattuck along with the goalie. Shattuck won the Championsip last year too i believe. They must really got it going down there? Stephan's brother Derek plays for The New York Rangers.

Just checked..Zach Stepan is The NY Rangers Derek Stepan's cousin not brother. I was told they were brothers. Sorry!
Also i just heard Shattuck did win the Midget championship today in Buffalo NY 2-1..Sound's like Stepan had the game winner.. Maybe he's a sleeper in this years draft? Has pretty good numbers according to the SSM website. I guess he broke a rib and was out a month or so. No confirmtion but that's what i'm being told.. Alot of pretty succesful NHLers over the years have come out of Shattuck and alot of scouts seem to maybe prefer these kids over the High Schoolers. More games-better competion?
Who said we were Loserville USA anyways?.... Not so fast!.. TheLynx-Lady Gophers-and now Shattuck St Mary'... Minny's on a roll!

I would. However, it we end up getting top 2 or 3, I don't know. I think we'd be stupid not to do that trade, though.

I don't know that we would. I guess it depends on who's left on the board. Kessel's great and all, but goal scorers start tailing off at 26. That means we'd only have a couple years of elite Kessel, while only a couple of our impact prospects are at the NHL before he starts declining. I think I'd rather take my chances with the pick.

I don't know man, 2-3 years of 40 goals followed by 5-7 years of 30+ goals is awfully tempting. Our top 6 RW positions would be set for the next 7-10 years.

Heatley - Koivu - Setoguchi
Latendresse - Granlund - Kessel

I like that.

I was thinking of putting Hackett in also but Harding is UFA status so I didn't and I more was posting as a what if we win the lottery with our probable 8.1% chance

And what are your team's weaknesses and strengths? JW because we play only once or twice per season

Weaknesses: pure goal scorers, legit top pairing PMDs

Strengths: goaltending, 3rd line center, prospects
