I can't make a 't' sound twice in a row. "Ma-Taw" is as good as yer gon' get in 'merica.

Like a really quick Mah-Ti-Ta?

Mah as in the word modern? Ti rhymes with tea, ta like Pa. Just guessing here. Mash it all together and say it quickly?

The way I understood it was like "mat" or "cat" or "cap".

In case you have hard time understanding how it is pronounced, try the Google Translate pronounciation, it's fairly accurate.

Määttä - Google Translate

It is, actually. Why I didn't come up with that is beyond me.

Okay, so Mat-ta. In English we don't really pronounce the "t" at the end of "mat" or "cat".

And now we better draft him after teaching ourselves to pronounce his name.

We'll need a whole thread dedicated to pronouncing his name.

It's not that difficult to be honest. Just think he's Italian or something.

Generally when saying those words its more of a glottal stop, and not an actual hard T sound.

You can possibly get Matta in the 2nd. A defensive D with heavy boots.

And I wouldn't touch Grigorenko with a ten foot pole. Don't care how talented he is, don't like the inconsistent intensity level from game to game.

Yakupov, Galchenyuk, Trouba, Murray, Forsberg would be my top 5.

Alright then.

Maybe it's because of the ankle injury he got since the WJC?

I didn't read the link, but the examples looked pretty definitive - the 6-10 picks seem like the classic HF Boards trade bait: "take Kadri, Paavarji, Gagner, Filatov, please," or busts ala Shep. Hopefully Granlund ends up better than our last 9 overall.

Depends on the draft, example oliver ekman-larsson was 6th and he is doing awesome so far, i would say development has quite a bit to do with it as well, filatov and shepp both got screwed by their clubs, while neither may have turned out.as hoped they both got denied that chance developmentaly.
