I don't want to clog up this thread anymore, so I'll sum it up by stating that I don't think we've ever been more ****.
Nobody else is posting though, and the majority of games have been played or on-going. So I wouldn't really call it clogging up the thread.
Anyway, i'll just chime in.
This game pretty much summed up exactly why Kenny needs to go. Forget loyalties, his status as a legend, and whatever else. He simply needs to go, his impact in transfers/player performance/formations have been sub-par. This decision is performance related (nothing else) and also why Carragher needs to go.
This is not a mid-table club, and never will be. So stop performing like one. I never envisioned myself watching Wigan beat Liverpool at Anfield, scoring 2 goals. Additionally, I never thought I would see QPR score 3 goals in 15 minutes to beat Liverpool. This all happened. It screams mid-table quality with mid-table players. That's unacceptable. Period.
On a more cheerful note, good to see Flannagin, Shelvey, and Sterling get some first-team action. Hopefully they can all put in some good performances to end the campaign.

We are a mid-table team, but not club in that doing more is required by supporters (as evidenced by people saying we should get rid of manager after manager) and expected by the people in charge of it. Small difference, but a difference.

You have devolved into a mid table club. Let's be honest. Liverpool have the aura of a big time club still because of their history and solid fans, but they haven't been a big time club in terms of play for a few seasons now. You can't spend the amount of money you do on mid-table players like Downing and Carroll and expect to really compete with Man U, City, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea.
They tried to buy English for one reason or another, and it's really failed them. They need a different strategy this Summer.
Should go back to buy from Spain, where even the average players (namely Riera) we picked up from there were able to put in a shift and be more effective than the expensive British purchases made the last go-round. The likelihood of that is extremely small though. If this continues Kenny will resign, if it doesn't continue and we head into the summer with the ship having been steered back under control, we'll see what happens. I still think Fenway may push him out because ultimately the point total isn't going to match up to their expectations.
I expect that the buy British policy is dead because FSG are not going to allow it. They know as well as everyone else knows that our best signing came from off the continent, it isn't rocket science to expect that they will mandate those kinds of moves continue. I'm also glad Sterling made his first team debut, and hopefully he plays well the rest of the way so that we don't want to waste money on another British wide man. And we aren't going into top four next season IMO, so if nobody's up for the long ride they may as well jump ship now. Instant gratification is not going to happen.
Sorry, they might be playing like a mid table club, but they still aren't.
Even if they finish in the middle of the pack, still having won a trophy, and probably ending up in the finals of the FA Cup (if not winning it), still is enough to constitute some measure of success.
A club with this massive support, resources and ownership who are still in year one, and a group who will be looking to continue to improve, they're not a mid table club. Sorry. Might be playing like one at this point, and might have some players who might deserve to be on one, but they really aren't.
City weren't built in a day, Spurs, United, and all, weren't great in one season, and it's going to take a bit to improve.
It's a long road to go ahead, but they're better than they've shown of late. The tide of injuries and wear has been showing, and it's better to see it now than in a season or two. The lack of quality in parts will be addressed, and they're going to continue to spend.
It also must be rationalized that they're still missing two players who could play for pretty much anyone. Between Agger and Lucas (and then Bellamy who really makes a difference, but isn't fit), that's a lot of trouble to overcome what's already a side that's a bit thin in areas.
Dalglish in his post match interview today, referring to Suarez’ second goal which was disallowed for handball; “There is no reason why the second goal should be chalked off.”
Well if you don’t count palming the ball into the net as a reason, then I suppose Kenny is completely right.
He's lost the plot. Hope he stays in charge for a few more seasons. What an idiot.

I clicked reply with the intention of unleashing a broadside against you, SAF and MU, but I really can't find too much fault with your post. I do think Kenny has lost the plot and its a damn shame. I'm the most biased Liverpool supporter around and on the replay, there was no way our 2nd goal should have stood and its a disgrace that Kenny should try to blame the ref, or tiredness, or bad luck for our loss.

A ghostly echo stirs,
remember the nineties, remember the time of Souness and Evans
Imagine if you can, imagine if you dare an epoch in which Liverpool fail to surpass Sheffield Wednesday's points tally for THREE SUCCESSIVE SEASONS. (My fingers recoil in horror, unwilling to type such obscenities. And yet, it was allowed to happen).
Consider 92-93, finishing in a league position below Norwich and Queen's Park Rangers. Think upon a 5-1 away defeat to.............................COVENTRY!
In 93-94, an FA Cup defeat to Bristol City. Not only finishing behind Wimbledon in the League, but being eliminated from the League Cup by them too.
Also in 98-99, seventh in the league. Early cup exits, including throwing away a 1-0 lead late on against Man U in the FA Cup.
I wonder what kind of carnage would have unfolded on this site in reaction to such events? Equally, I can only suppose that had some of our more excitable Gooners experienced Wrexham 2, Arsenal 1 they would have internally combusted.
Happily, time has moved on and the distinction of rank is more respected these days.
I am so glad Pardew has finally found a way to consistently play Ben Arfa.
He's a truly incredible footballer, for good and bad. That second half run straight up the middle of the field embodied his style of play-in textbook terms it was utterly stupid to dribble so deep and centrally in his own half, yet his counterintuitiveness paid off because he almost scored. Moreover, it was thrilling to witness.
It helps that WBA had a gaping hole where most teams would put their central midfielders (if Woy let that occur with England "naivety" would be the cry); still, it's a boon to have a player who can so quickly transform games. Whilst it may sound daft to harp on about workrate for such an artist, its vital to remember that his determination in a 50-50 challenge helped create the second goal. Furthermore, his tracking back helped see off the Baggies rally. If this can be the norm, he promises to be a devastating player in this league-particularly away from home.
The second half reminded that NUFC have lost the ability to pass trailing teams to death that they had before December. Too often, dumb passing choices were made; or the Senegalese again failed to hold up the ball. It does make me shudder that Pardew has to keep bringing on Shola to effectively take the sting out of games. On the other hand, the front trio's flair won the game. Reward outweighs risk-I'd just hope to see less risk eventually.
Credit to Williamson and especially Perch for withstanding Albion's second-half rally. However, the abiding memory of this game will be the lightning speed, fluency and beautiful efficiency of NUFC's goals. Relegation mathematically avoided. Sixty points a possibility for the first time since Lee Bowyer hauled his carcass through the door (which marked the definitive grim turning point of the Robson era). And if the front three can consistently reproduce this performance, a lot of fun to be had this spring.
IMO it would be best if Newcastle actually didnt get CL this year, but the top UEFA spot instead. If they got CL it could be their undoing, fans crying for huge money spending, Ashley being a bigger arsehole then usual. A good Uefa campaign followed by CL qualification is the way forward I think.
