- Patrick Thoresen better than Zuccarello (Google Translate)

O huge shock for all the Zuke-fans i Norway. Norwegian hockey experts say the former Oilers and Flyers player Patrick Thoresen is a better player than Mats Zuccarello.

Thoresen is having a great World Championship in Sweden with 14 points in 6 games, 2nd overall only 2 points behind Malkin for Russia. He has also played extremely well in KHL since he left Flyers and the NHL.

I would imagine this is hurting a lot of feelings amongst hockey fans in Norway

IMO he is more than good enough for NHL. Maybe Rangers should have a look.... I guess they also have scouts in Sweden/Finland during the Championship.

Thoresen is a beast...

Good size and great hockey mind plus he has some nhl experience..

He should get some serious looks from nhl clubs this summer...

Why? The more good hockey players, the better Anyone who's more than a bandwagoner knows what kind of numbers he has put up in KHL, Radulov-linemate or not.

btw: With the points he put up in the ongoing game against Denmark he has more points than Malkin, with 13 minutes left in the third

Zucc has more points in 52 career NHL games than Thoresen had in 106.

Today is 7 weeks for zukes. Game 5 would be a week from tomorrow at MSG...is he available? That would be a full 8 weeks.

Zuke must be ahead of Dubi in regards to coming back. I would sit Mitchell when Zuke is ready to go then just run him with Rupp, Prust on the 4th line and give him some PP time. Yes Rupp at 4th line C

He is finished for the season. He has been degraded to the black aces (CT-group) and are practising with them and not the Rangers-group. Only injuries will let him in the roster again. I guess we will never see him in Rangers again. I doubt he will sign new contract.

I don't agree...he has gone down to skate with the taxi squad, but torts said it was only to get him in game situations...when he was skating before he was in a non contact jersey, so now it sounds like he is cleared for contact, which being out 8 weeks is a long time and would be good for him to play in game situations, they are probably skating really hard right now as opposed to teh rangers who im guessing are going hard but not too hard trying to save it for the games....it would not surprise me to see him crack the lineup in game 4 or later this series, he has speed a unbelievable creativity in his passing....him and kreids i think could light it up especially in this series

I hope zuc is back soon and playing top 6 minutes over cally. (Yes I said over CALLY) zucc fits a top 6 role better than cally. cally's more of a grinder (albeit one of the best in the league and he had goals this season to show it). if hagelin's speed wasn't so important i'd say over hagelin... though i doubt torts will demote cally. it def makes more sense than playing zucc bottom 6.

hagelin/richards/gaborik
kreider/stepan/zucc
(possible to swap kreid and hags for more D)
fedotenko/anisimov/callahan
rupp/boyle/prust

rupp out for dubi whenevs

also feels like kreider and zucc could have awesome chemistry.

MZA is not going to give the Rangers more of what they need right now - -strong play along the walls. (ditto for a possible LA series)

mitchell really isn't either. zucc can at least connect his passes in the zone and bring more of a threat on the pp.. and i've seen him do an ice elevated clear out of the zone which is always great when we need a change and can't afford an icing.

Mats Zuccarello skated with the taxi squad of AHL players today, Torts said it was so he could work with some game situations.
i see this more of a conditioning stint than a demotion...i think zuke has a chance to get back in the lineup and is probably doing contact work now...torts likes his creativity and knows he needs it, rangers would have traded zuke by now if they weren't going to use him or resign him...

Playing with the taxi squad because Torts wants him in game situations is a good sign in my opinion that he is getting better. Just because a doctor gives a timetable for an injury doesnt mean we can expect it to be correct. It is just an estimate. If Zooks could play 4th line (5 minutes a game) and PP (5 minutes a game) soon that would be great. We have to score some more goals. We cant win every game scoring 1-2 goals a night.

I really hope it's just conditioning, and he's in th next game. I think it depends on the outcome of todays match really. If they lose, he's in. If they win, he'll have to wait.

so basically play Zuc with 2 guys who couldnt puck the puck into an empty net so he can play 3 minutes of pp time?

this team needs a Dubi in alot more then they need a small undersized pp specialist right now.he'll get eaten alive in the playoffs.

I'd be shocked if it was anyone other than Bickel at forward.

Dubi and Zuke are still injured and Scott borders on useless.

I don't think zucc is still injured at all. his arm may not be 100% and he might have trouble taking slashes, but he's certainly able to play. it's been what, 7 (probably 8 by next game)weeks? he should be fine.

maybe bring erixon up and play 7 defense if prusty is out and zucc is in fact still injured(don't think dubi is conditioned to play right now/might be injured).

def see bickel over scott... erixon as a 7th d makes more sense though imo since he can bring some pp aid(but that's not nearly our problem right now).

Granted, but I would rather have Zuccarello in there instead of Scott.

If prust is out then Zuke is in. Scott was a waste of a pick
