Yeah, don't really get the Montrealer-love for the Blue Jays either but whatever.
I find it funny that the game I say, "**** it, let's just finish the tank strong," the Habs come out and dominate the opposition. So from this point on, GO HABS GO! Since the opposite always happens, might as well try.
A hilarious, but annual phenomenon (timing varies):
I'm just finishing a uni degree in Ontario so I get to observe the tragedy of leaf fandom regularly (it pretty much goes hand in hand with my Habs obsession). You should see how the moment the leafs went from 7th to closing in on columbus (a span of ~10 days), the leaf shirts, hats, man purses, which had been sported so proudly all season with that glib look that only they can pull off to perfection, were all ditched. Now it's all blue jays apparel.
Spring training is soon/already started, but this really happened back when they revealed themselves for what they truly were and I no longer heard about Gardiner and Schenn and Phaneuf. Kessel and Lupul, the awesomeness of James Reimer and how impressive Ben Scrivens was. Also, it's just before the playoffs. Had they not imploded, no one would care about baseball, the parade would have been planned at least.
Our suffering, mentally, IMO ended awhile ago. When I talk to the leaf fans who gave me ****, they walk away saying "I don't want to talk about it" before I even mention the leafs.
The worst are the ones trying to sneak in on our hard earned spot. The burning in my eyes from watching the PP most of the season, the blown leads, the exquisite D coverage...it's healed, but it's been hard. To lose that pick now (to the leafs in particular) would be like getting a Thai massage with salt after getting 100 papercuts from Gomez's contract.

I understand what you're saying but to me it sounds more like an ego thing than anything else, to have the Leafs picking before us after our terrible season.
Let's look at it in a rational way shall we...
We sucked for most of the year and we went through hell and back as a fan of Les Canadiens, and the Leafs were being annoying with their gloating for most of the season. But the EAST was always close in terms of points, I don't think the Leafs were ahead of us by that much in terms of spread for most of the year. Think 10-12 points ahead of us at most at all times. Now, only three points separate us, and we have to thank our consistent suckage for that but they are still ahead and ther's not many games left.
It's not as though we've been tanking hard all year and they have been winning games only to switch positions with us come draft time. If they end up selecting before us, I can only assume we will have the very next pick so it's not the end of the world like we shot up in the standings to #9 in the conference or something.
I was jealous of their tanking as well, but I think it just stems from the fact that they actually made fun of us for a brief period where they seemed to be a decent team, when they weren't. I'm less mad now thinking about it because it turns out the joke's on them.
Also consider this... their so called truculence is all but gone now. We made them look very bad last time, on the scoreboard and on the physical side of things. Phaneuf ad Luke Schenn are their only relevant remaining piece from Burke's initial plan to render them tough and they are terrible for the most part, the rest have been traded (Beauchemin) or fell into obscurity (Kulemin, Komisarek). I get a kick out of thinking about how it all fell apart.
They just really suck, no reason to hate on their potential lottery pick this year.
I've had it in for the Flyers since they were the Broad Street Bullies ,of the 1970s. I wish I had been at the finals games at The Forum in 1976, when the Habs knocked the Flyers, the reignng Cup champs, off their perch. The defining moment was when Larry Robinson purposely went after Dave Schultz and thrashed him. It was an incredibly one-sided series and the Flyers were never the same after that.
i remember well, bird really banged up that dave ****in schultz.
No wonder i like a tough team rather than skill, grow up with it...lol
