No one else is available as there are just six healthy d-man before the move. There wasn't a practice yesterday.

MTL is about one of the only few teams Gus can actually handle

Lilja apparently was absent from today's skate; however, no indication regarding injury as yet since Holmgren is the sole spokesman on such matters.

why was he set down to begin with? he's better then lilja and he wasn't an emergency call up so he could of stuck around while even after kubina came back. i really don't get homer some times.

i guess it's safe to assume he's an emergency call up then?

Probably to play for the Phantoms as opposed to sitting as a seventh d-man for the Flyers.

so i guess management doesn't agree with me in that Gus is a better option then Lilja.

i think gus' play overall has been positive. he's looked no worse then MAB and overall is better then lilja IMO.

My guess is that it is Laviolette's decision as coach who plays more so than Holmgren's as GM.

I don't hate him, I just don't think he's that good. at least not at this point in his career. he's too weak and get's pushed off the puck easily. He has potential though. I'd like to see him get some PP time since he seemed to have been a pretty good PP QB in the AHL

and no, he hasnt been better than Lilja, especially lately when Lilja has been pretty solid out there

especially indicates that in your opinion Lilja has been better then gus all season or at least for the better part of the season. i agree lilja has had good games as of late and could even have been considered an upgrade over gus but overall i would say gus is the better asset to the team on most nights. just my opinion.

i also think that if they want to get the most out of him they need to play him to his strengths which is his offensive game and they haven't been

Lilja's injury is listed as "upper body." He is day-to-day.

I believe they are making these moves with Bourdon and Gus because they want to keep as many d-men in the loop as possible.

Paddock was on WIP during intermission a week or two ago and said something about how the Ducks used 9 d-men during their 2009 SC run, and that teams advancing far in the playoffs could have to use more d-men than you would expect.

Timonen
Grossmann
Coburn
Carle
Kubina
Lilja
Gustafsson
Bourdon
Manning
and perhaps in the later rounds, Meszaros.
