Picking 30th would mean we had won the Cup, that's what he was alluding to I believe.

I've never stated otherwise.

So, people who've paid hundreds of dollars for tickets to see these games don't deserve to see the team make an effort?

And what about when the Leafs are on the road? Do those fans not deserve the viisiting team at least be competitive?

Evidently not in February 2012 or any time the Leafs play the Bruins.

If a team loses, it must be a legitmate loss. Throwing a game is unethical IMHO.

While it's true that there's nothing wrong with those players, ask yourself if you'd rather have Jonas Brodins or Duncan Siemens over Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Gabriel Landeskog.

Would you rather have, instead of Taylor Hall or Tyler Sequin, Mikael Granlund or Dylin Mcllrath?

Etc, etc.

You don't need to win to be competitive or make an effort. I don't think tankers want this team to play poorly, just to lose the game.

The leafs can try all they want. In fact I'd hope they do try. But a loss is better then a win at this point.

I am aware of that and was being sarcastic towards the tanker fan.

Of course it is. Doesn't mean as a fan watching at home that you can't feel that a loss would be better in the long run though.

Currently, no but you would be hard-pressed to argue that their strong finish last year didn't have a carryover effect onto the beginning of the season this year.

A professional team will ALWAYS put forth an effort to win. Whether or not that team has the talent to pull it out is another story altogether.

Unfortunately it's all about how the rest of the season plays out rather than what you want.

True it probably did. But imo top 3 picks > few extra wins in the beginning of the season.
