Jets lose 3-1

Continue here. Nice urgency shown at the end, too bad it wasn't present in the early going.

Why did we have to win so many home games this year?

To use the 2004 Tampa Bay Lightning motto, "Safe Is Death". We played 50 minutes tonight safe, and at this point in the year given what is on the line, playing safe is going to kill us, and tonight it did just that.

We didn't do what it took to win, so here we are. It's been one hell of a run, but I think it's safe to say it's come to an end. Very disappointed in the lack of urgency tonight.

I didn't see much compete and outside of wheeler and the waiver line our big guys were invisible. Seems like every other team has stepped up while we graciously stepped out.

I don't think they played nearly as bad a game as some are saying, they got beat by a better team it wasn't like the played terribly they just got beat. Good game by the waiver wire again making a case for a good look next year in training camp. LLW with a solid game. Still thrilled with the progress the team has made.

Who the hell cares, we got our team back, they performed better than most other people predicted, finish up the year playing strong hockey and see what happens. I'm not disappointed one bit.

Sigh. I guess most of us have expected this for a couple weeks already, but when it becomes as clear as it is now that we won't be making the playoffs, it's very sad.

I still love these guys, and I can't wait to see what we can do next year.

I <3 the Jets

It wasn't a bad game against a very good team that plays great defence. Possibly Pavelec's best game of the year, or close to it.

I'm not going to throw the towel in just yet, probably won't until it's mathematically over. But being realistic, they can really only afford one more loss in the last 7 games, and even that will require some outside help to get us in. I just can't see last spot in the East going to a team with less than 90 points.

Chasing one team, maybe, but not two. Still, they will keep trying. After 2-0 they turned it on more than I thought they could. Kane has really gone cold, unfortunately.

Not that it matters at this point but Kane and Burmi don't seem to play very well together. Any idea why that is?. Wellwood has to be my biggest disappointment of all. It seems that line is playing with two players.

Still don't know why we can't play a full 60 minutes of hockey.

Kane was absolutely invisible tonight. Besides his backcheck, I also thought Ladd was pretty invisible as well. I expect more out of our captain at this point in the season. Little was average, and I didn't really see much energy from Glass and Slater. It would have been nice to see one of them try to swing the momentum again like last night. Wouldn't have to be a fight, maybe just a couple of big hits.

Regarding Wheeler, it's clear he still has his heart in it. You can tell he really wants to win. Is it just me, or does it seem like with his recent success he is changing his game? I mean in so far as while it's great that he has a tonne of confidence, it seems like now he's trying to do everything by himself. Maybe too much confidence is better than too little, but it's kind of getting commonplace to see Wheeler try to dangle through 5 guys now.

Well, if the Jets aren't gonna make it, then I'm hoping the Sabres can keep 8th and send the Caps to the golf course too.

Good run - we really got to see what this team is made of, and where the holes are. It's great for them to understand what moving to the next level requires. Will be interesting to see what kind of moves are made at the end of this year.

Looking forward to a few more fun games before the end of the year.

While I don't want the Caps to make the playoffs, I really couldn't stand all the whining about the SouthLeast in that case...

Iunno, he's played so many games just like tonight.

The 15 passes in our own zone before we even breakout is getting a little tiresome.

Kane, Burmi, and Wellwood hardly got any icetime in the 3rd, and rightfully so those 3 were playing the dogcrap all game long thus we had to use Slater, Glass and they weren't generating dick.

Monday at home vs the Sens should be quite the show.

Same.
But you look in the west and the same thing is happening.
The "Adams" division is nothing to write home about either tbh.
Two dominant divisions, four meh divisions.
