Reimer or Gustavsson, who do you keep going forward?

ill start off with the obvious, Reimer & Gustavsson will not be the 1-2 goalies for next season. In my opinion i think either one of these goalies will benefit greatly if they were a backup to a more experienced and proven goaltender, this way they can further develop without the extreme pressure of having to carry a team..out of both goalies i believe that Gustavsson would make an excellent backup of not having the pressure of being that number one goalie, some goalies are moulded this way and i truly believe that Jonas would be a top backup goalie in the league, Reimer i really dont know what to expect from him next year and unfortunately im not really willing to take my chances with him again

Reimer no doubt. He is still young and has potential, and has played parts of two season in consistently so we still don't know if hes any good. Gustavsson isn't a number 1, and doesn't play well when only played every now and again so he's not a good backup choice either

We have to acquire a proven #1 goalie in the off season but I wouldn't be overly upset if we started next season with Reimer and Scrivens. I have a feeling that Gus is as good as gone..... back to Sweden.

Kind of a moot point. The Leafs need a #1 goalie, and it's not going to be Reimer of Gus. So the question is who would make the better back up, and I think the answer to that is it is a virtual toss-up.

That's possibly the only goalie combination worse than what we're using right now

Reimer.

Hopefully we can snatch up Vokoun next season for a year or two (he's 35), while we wait for one of our G-prospects to develop.

They will probably go with Reimer and let Gustavsson walk. I really wished it worked out here with Gus and even though he's probably been better than Reimer this season I just don't see him having a future here. Hopefully he find a better home elsewhere though.

I think Vokoun would be perfect

This. I really like both goalies, but there is no way this team makes the playoffs with this tandem.

There is a chance they both have great seasons, but I dont think it is worth the risk.

Agreed. Hopefully the price-tag isn't something outrageous, but he should be a top priority.

After him it dips quite a bit.

I'd keeP both. They are good goalies and young. They have shown flashes of brilliance, but they need to be consistent. I'd bet that if we traded 1, they'd come back better with another team to kick our ass

Yeah, it's gotta be Reimer.

I do think Gus will get another NHL contract though. He's always been highly touted, and this has been his best statistical season in the NHL...

If given the choice between the two Reimer just makes more sense...younger, already signed and with similar talent.

Reimer. Just turned 24 and you know how long it takes goalies to come into their own. Not to mention he's been unreal as of late.

Recently I noticed that Reimer really loses sight of the puck A LOT. I feel like he relies on percentages too much hoping that the puck just hits him. I don't think you can be a legit #1 goalie that way. That said, I still like him better than Gus. He is the one with a contract beyond this year, he is the one that they should keep around.

At least Reimer can stop a breakaway. Gustavvson never makes the big save, always lets in softies, goes down to early (that's what she said) and is terrible on rebound control. He looks shaky all the time, never looks confident and can't handle the puck at all either behind the net or covering it up.

Those are all correctable things and things you need from your #1 goalie. No way do I want Gus back.

Reimer at times has the same failings (Allaires fault probably) but he's still young, on a cheap contract and at times has still looks superb even with our ****astic defense. He could still be a solid backup and maybe in the future be our #1 if our defense gets better and he improves too naturally.

You are right that Reimer does not track the puck well at all. Gus is the better goalie but Reimer is the one who is signed.

I would prefer that neither are back.

At least Reimer doesn't over play pucks and watch fluttery wrist shots go by him. If Gus was the better goalie than he would have been re-signed over Reimer.

Reimer will never be a starting NHL goalie.
He simply lacks talent.
He loses track of the puck constantly, its almost like he doesnt track it into his body and just hopes he covers up enough of the net and it hits him.Hes also slow laterally. Once someone fakes him, hes down and out.

Gust has more natural ability, but I dont think he will be more than a 1B, 2A goalie in this league.

I would keep Gust. Reimer just doesnt have the natural ability to improve.
