Trade up!!! Burke got Franson,Armstrong, Lombardi and McArthur for nothing. They are worth enough to move up.

no doubt that RC's had an impact on the players

but when the leafs habitually perform in march like they should for 82 games, its easier to attribute player improvements to that

none of them is really attractive enough of a piece that would move us up to a top 3 pick

edit: maybe franson but theyd still have to offer a lot more

How about all of them? How about trade some for picks and then use those to move up?

Because its March 24th 1985 of course. Leafs playing in the Gardens, missing the playoffs, and on their way to draft Wendel Clark.

Unfair to who? There are much worse and much older players that play a regular shift in the NHL. You sound like a Habs- Bruin fan...once a player becomes a Leaf, he has negative trade value.

What does that even mean? How much did you spend on the game tonight?

Not first rounders but valuable for moving up. Clubs will often trade down for multiple picks. There is a reason teams stockpile second and third rounders.. to move up.

Good point by Mike in Buffalo about the 4th line hardly being used. Carlyle is nothing like Rotten Ronnie and his 4th line obsession.

Yes teams do stockpile picks, but those two would get us 4th rounders at best. There's a big difference between the top 3 picks and the rest. I'm not saying we couldn't move up but not by trading those players, at least not as key parts of a deal.

I was just reading the post-game from the leafs last home win.

Some of the quotes are remarkable when taken into context with their current dire circumstances.

Quote:
“You have to go through a hard time to realize what it takes to win,” Reimer said. “I think we struggled a bit there in December. It really caught us out of wind, per se. We could see firsthand what we were doing wrong and we’ve really taken it to a man to be better and man up.”

Quote:
Toronto vaulted past Ottawa into seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Suddenly, the Maple Leafs are within four points of fourth-place Philadelphia—a team it visits Thursday night—and they have built a four-point cushion over ninth-place Washington. Not that they’ve taken much time to notice.

“There’s not a whole heck of a lot of scoreboard watching on our part,” Toronto coach Ron Wilson said. “Just take care of our own business."
Quote:
“We’re playing confident and we’re playing well,” Bozak said. “So we just want to keep worrying about our next game in hand and not look too far ahead and just keep winning.”
It seems just astounding that such a confident sounding group would just plummet off the cliff right after this game.

like those teams are gonna miss out on a top 3 pick to get bums like armstrong, thats the type of moves that got the leafs into this mess
