I think it depends from what spot you are moving up to; moving up to the top 3 or 4 is not so easy. Burke had a difficult time trying to get Tampa's pick when they drafted Hedman, and an equally difficult time trying to get the 4th pick when Atlanta drafted Kane.

The Isles would of had a pretty sweet 1-2 punch at C had they taken Wilson. Them are the breaks, in their case pitfalls of trading at the draft.

Would you guys roll with the same checking line next year if they manage to keep up the pace for the rest of the season? Even with Crabb and Lombardi in it?

I think we can afford a significant package to move up into the top 5 where we probably would have finished if we continued to suck, from a top 8 where we will probably finish now that we have our act together somewhat. To finish top three assumes that the teams below us would start winning...hardly a given. My point is that we have more than enough assets to undue the damage caused by not tanking.

I was just pointing out that a 2nd and a 3rd doesn't necessarily mean you can move up a few spots every year.

Or we could just play hard and instill some pride in a once proud organization. I think if we tank on purpose, the league would take our first rounder away. And rightfully so.

The team doesn't want to tank, it's the fans that want the tank.

Can't prove anything.

It was a joke. Year after year you have to admit that this organization has never done anything that would make it easier on itself if even just by losing games that they have no problem losing earlier in the year when it mattered to win.

there's no pride to be gained this late in the season we've already missed the playoffs

Not many people on this board could possibly remember when this was a proud organization. Ballard destroyed all of that.

True that. This whole notion that if you cheer for a loss you are a better Leaf fan than one who cheers for a win defies physics. The teams is going to win or lose irregardless of the fans wishes. Well, except for those that believe in devine intervention.." please God make my Maple Leafs lose".

Accepting losing is a good thing? Embracing a culture of losing is alright if it is late in the season?

Every team plays for a chance at the Cup. The Leafs are home already.

The team should have thought about that when they went 1-9-1.

Then why the ****** are you here? It is still a proud organization. Do not tell me that my beloved Leafs are not a proud organization. Hey the Habs page is just down the hall; join up, you talk like you are already there.

it happened, its done, its over with.

Last year we we were playing the reverse, we played 100 without having a playoff spot and then 25 days to fix it.

This year we did the opposite, we had a 100+ days for the playoff spots and then lost it in 25 days.

We are young, we gained experience from this, we know what we did wrong and where we lack to steer this team in the right direction.

That team had more talent than the recent team that's on the ice. You can judge for yourself.

I'll guarantee you that I'm just as dyed in the wool a Leafs fan as you. You see enough garbage go down over the years and you'll realize that why should you even care about the actual organization(MLSE and it's predecessor). It sure as hell doesn't care about you.

Perhaps it is a case of better coaching? There is a new coach now.
