Three clean sheets in a row
7 out of a possible 9 points
Defense and defensive system look fantastic.
Work ethic is high
Joe Cannon has probably been the best goalie in the MLS so far this year. Clinical saves in back to back games.
The bad so far this year
Offense is not clicking like many people thought it would
Atmosphere in bc place is not as good as "I" expected
Midfield's very passive, seems to be a concern until robson arrives.
Yeah I really think Robson will certainly be a huge addition when he arrives.
I know he's young but I would really like to see Teibert get some minutes. Could let us play 4-3-3 with Camilo, Hassli and Le Toux up front with Teibert, Davidson and Chiumiento in the midfield.
We still need to remember we're without Thorrington and Harris.

What were "you" expecting...more importantly what have "you" done to make it better?
D.C. did a fantastic job closing in on the Caps' midfielders when they first got possession of the ball. Hopefully Robson helps when he comes onboard, but there are a lot of games between now and then; in the meantime, the Caps need to address the glaring weakness of moving the ball through the midfield to the forwards.
The first half was as physical of a half I have seen the Whitecaps play since they've joined the MLS. It didn't help that the ref was inconsistent in his decisions and was unnecessarily dickish towards players on both teams.
The defence and Cannon were strong. Le Toux was invisible for most of the night and Camilo and Davide were awful; Watson looked completely out of sorts and I'd like to see Koffie back in the middle with Davidson.
Lee's forward runs still aren't being adequately protected and it looks like it's going to take a counter-attack goal against for the Caps to figure that out.
It was a pretty disappointing game, in my opinion, but they're continually banking points which they didn't do when they had efforts like this last season. Three straight clean sheets to start the season is awesome.

This Hassli breakaway should never have been called offsides...if you see a replay the assistant was 10 yards out of position and just guessed.
Offside calls are missed all the time at all levels of the game, so I wouldn't harp too much on that. In regards to the picture, it can be deceiving. It looks to me like Le Toux didn't release the ball yet with his right foot. It's plausible that when he did, Hassli was behind the defender.

Looks offside to me. Hassli's arm and forward foot look like they're slightly past the last defender (i.e. second-to-last-opponent if you want to get technical).
I can only do so much, I do think the "whitecaps wave" could be a good idea, if everybody participates in it.
I would of course participate in all the chants, I enjoy soccer atmospheres.
Let me be clear, I ain't looking for europe style crowds, which go bonkers. But I do think Vancouver could do much better then what we are doing now.
flame away
Depends where in Europe you are...support in Europe varies quite a bit. The Southsiders for the most part are much more reactionary...I think the College sports system in the USA lends itself to fans joining in more when it comes to displays and chants. Compare an SFU football game to a OSU or WU football game and you'll see they are starting way ahead of the game as far as willingness to participate.
It will take time and BC Place may never be like PDX or Sea but hopefully it will grow into it's own thing.
Can't stand people complaining about the atmosphere at Whitecaps games. Tickets are reasonably priced and everybody has a opportunity to attend games. Nothing is stopping you from grabbing some buddies and starting your own chants and cheers.
Complain about Canucks games because you're priced out and can't change anything? Fine, fair enough.
No excuse when it comes to the Whitecaps.
The Southsiders aren't the only supporters group in town either. So even if you don't agree with how they do things, you can join another group or create your own.

I really think the offside rule is terribly implemented. Why did it come to be in the first place? It was to stop players from cherry picking, not having this incredibly tight restriction that is so anal and disrupts many a game.
How I would do the rule would be to only call it if the player is clearly offside, i.e. you can see space between the player and last defender.

Be part of the solution.
I think you are confusing complaining and being disappointed.
They are both entirely different.
All I ask is a little more flair, because I belive in this city, and I know they can put on a much better show of sorts

Some of the best chants are the simplest ones. For example:
1) Sssssssssssssssssssssss...BOOM!
2) "I, I believe, I believe that, I believe that we will win!"
3) You fat *******!
This is our goal that we should be setting for ourselves, IMO:

The VSS, Rain City Brigade and the Curva Collective are there for 1 reason only...to support the team...it isn't about flair or how it looks on TV...it's not about entertaining the rest of the lazy sitters in BC Place...it's about support for the players and those groups are always there doing whatever they can...in Seattle the whole lower bowl stands and participates not just the SG...that's why the simple chants in Seattle are so loud. Personally I would rather the Southsiders give more back to the charitable causes then spend all the money on a big ass banner that you see for 30 seconds at the start of the match.
Unless you are willing to personally finance the tifo displays I really don't think it's fair to get on anyone for not showing enough "flair". They do what they can with what they got and they've been doing for over a decade...
Also if you are looking for flair you should try and join the CC...great guys and if they grow are more likely in my mind to put on big organized displays.

Well said, I hope people didn't take what I meant the wrong way.
I dono, I just feel like this city could really be incredible during a caps game, so many passionate soccer fans

Too be fair, I think you're right. It could be AMAZING. I hope one day it gets there (open up the upper deck and everything too!). but it's not too bad right now.
Whitecaps reserves just tied the Saunders reserve team 1-1. Mitchell got a 90th minute header from a very nice Salgado cross. They seemed to be able to control the ball nicely all game but Seattle looked like the more skilled squad.
It's been rumoured for awhile but it's now confirmed the Sounders are opening up all of CenturyLink Field for when the Whitecaps visit. I've read allocation is 750 but Whitecaps fans need to fill that and much more (like how the Sounders did in Vancouver last year).
